We had the good fortune of connecting with Edna Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edna, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my commitment to service and integrity. My job is to serve my community by educating about the benefits of owning a home and building wealth through Realestate. Unfortunately many Realtors have a bad rap it’s my mission to serve my clients and community with integrity. Do the right thing for my client not for me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being a Realtor many people think that it’s an easy job and money just flows. What you see on TV and social is fake. It’s hard! it’s 24/7 job. Depending on where you’re at in your career you can go months without getting paid. 95% of licensed Realtors fail and that’s because many don’t treat it like a real business. It takes dedication, consistency, grind, self-motivation to be successful.

I was fortunate that I previously worked for USAA (huge military bank) and other banks which helped set the foundation for me to help many of my clients. Especially here in San Diego since we are such a big military town.

Mindset is key. Whenever it’s hard most quit. I would tell myself I am not a quitter and if it was easy everyone would do it.

What separates me from others is that I come with a sense of humility and understanding. I really want to understand how I can help my clients and get the. To their next chapter.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love San Diego! It’s so diverse and there is so much to do. I’m the type of person that can be bad and boujee lol. I can eat in high ends spots or my local Lonchera (food truck).

I love lonchera El Prieto. They have the best Mexican style seafood. Some of my favorites are the fish tacos, mango aguachile and tostada loca.

If I was to go to a really nice dinner than I would attend Animae. I love the ambiance, their Asian fusion, drinks and hip-hop music. Their service is amazing and their vibe is just cool. I highly recommend it.

I love taking my kids to a Belmont Park. We like to go Miniature golfing, playing games and eating ice cream. We also love listening to Puerto Rican drummers on the board walk and dance salsa music.

Balboa park is a must! The buildings are gorgeous and a staple of San Diego.

Last but not least San Diego is just minutes away from Tijuana Mexico. I love going to Valle de Guadalupe to taste wine and enjoy their delicious food. Puerto Nuevo Lobster and Ensenada.

San Diego has it all! We are fortunate to live here. It’s a true gem.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people to thank for my success but my parents changed the trajectory of my life. Immigrating from Guatemala to the U.S my parents brought their 2 young girls ages 4 (me) and 5 to California. They worked so hard to make sure we had what we needed. They never asked for hand outs. They taught me to work hard, be a go getter, to not be intimidated because I’m a woman and just be a luchadora. They also taught me appreciation to the country that welcomed us. I love this Country for all the opportunities I have received and I thank my parents for sacrificing themselves for me.
