We had the good fortune of connecting with Deserie Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deserie, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
How can anyone give up on their dreams? What happens is most people don’t want to put in the work to get the success. Most people want the easy route to success, but there isn’t an easy route. You have to work smart and work hard. . So much has to do with your belief in yourself, and executing with the right team. If I choose to work with you, it is because I believe in your craft, you and the strength you bring to our team collectively. I always go after what I want and I don’t stop until I make it mine.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our goal has always been to be the best at DDMG and we all pride ourselves in bringing our best to the stage. My business is based on relationships. It’s important to me to have great relationships with the people who allow us to play at their venues, with the musicians who allow me to place them in these venues and also with the people who support our craft. They all have a choice and haven chosen us to work with. I am a talker, and I am passionate about music. This gives me an advantage, because I feel that when you are passionate about what you do, it’s not a job- it’s your livelihood.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego has some amazing areas to visit. I would have to say my favorite spot to go is downtown, rent a bike and stop at different spots around town to grab a drink. I love to people watch so Rustic Root is my favorite chill spot as well as Carnitas Snack Shack down by the Embarcadero. Encinitas,Carlsbad and Solana Beach are all coastal cities with great boardwalks and awesome restaurants to eat at. Most of them will have some form of live music playing. San Diego has a few casinos in town we love to visit and who doesn’t like to win?
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Big ShoutOut to all the venues and fans that kept our music going during the Pandemic. We started off by doing some Stay At Home Concerts back in April 2020 which lead to big fundraisers to give back to our community. Not only thru music but with donations to help give back to other musicians in need. My own personal shoutout, is to my husband Sheldon who thinks creatively with me. He’s always ready to go on one of my many adventures. When the pandemic hit, I was already thinking of ways to get thru this, I knew it wasn’t going away in 3 weeks. I knew streaming would be the new way to keep going, and we did that. We were featured on Fox5 San Diego news for our Stay At Home concert.
