We had the good fortune of connecting with De Leon Boudreaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi De Leon, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
A lot of the industry is built off of people that want the power that music gives but doesn’t want the responsibility of the art form itself.

In growing up in studio’s as a kid, especially in san Diego, keeping a studio open and making money is the biggest things on peoples minds rather than the actual art of music itself. I’ve seen a lot of engineers prioritize clients that don’t have an interest in the music as an art form but have a bag and want the fame & respect that people in the art form have. Even though thats how business works in certain cases, i feel that this idea is what cause’s the industry to prioritize a person that will spend their bag on the idea that they do have talent rather than give actual talent a chance.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Because my parents didn’t have a good relationship (Like most black and brown kids in america) the studio was where me and my father spent most of our time connecting with each other. because he was engenier alot of what i picked up and started to get into was more of the technical side of music rather than the artist side. outside of the studio i was heavily in to the performing arts weather it was playing an instrument or singing i was always performing and showing my musical talent in some shape or form. Now as a young adult im finding that a lot of my career is embracing the technical side of music while performing and showcasing my talent towards the the people that will listen.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a hard question because i honestly stay inside alot but first forsure on monday it would be a mix of either exploring alot of the food places, san diego is known for not only its mexican food places but also its more unique local eateries as well. The next day (tuesday) i would definetly say we need to atleast check out the diispensaries, alot of america still hasnt made marajuana legal so doing that is a must as well as taking them to prohibition the speakyzee of course. wednesday i would definetly be spent on stoping by all the coffe spots and bars in the area because the city is just filled with them. thursday would deffinetly be spent seeing the scenery and go to land marks like balboa park, sunset cliffs, coronado and all the places that sandiego natives like myself know and love. the weekend itself would just be for going to local events or shows that might be popping up, san diego always has someting popping durring the weekends.
