We had the good fortune of connecting with David Cross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I thought that I had learned a lot in my many different roles and related fields and thought that I could bring them all together with the ability to make decisions focused around our Northstar, which is quality of care and support for the people we have given the awesome responsibility of supporting.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Anyone who runs their own business can tell you is never easy. I remember fondly the months that I spent unpaid building the agency as well as the wild schedule required when we were running with so few employees. I think that the most important piece of advice I was given was that there is no brinks truck behind the hearse so the only thing you leave on this world is the impact that you make. I love the work that I do because no matter how big or small I know that it does make an impact every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a cool question because I get to say that my best friends do live in San Diego. All of us came from other places and we still can’t believe we get to live in this amazing city. You cant talk about San Diego without the food, Carmen’s Mexican restaurant, Raki Raki on convoy Street, or my mother-in-law’s kitchen are some of the best spots in the city. Often you can find me on one of the many golf courses in SD or off Roading through the back trails of Pine Valley in my Jeep.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is an interesting question to answer so I would like to make sure I respect everybody’s privacy and confidentiality, but I’ve had several former employers that I very much learned from. I was raised by two of the best parents that a person could ask for amazing teachers and educators throughout my life, and of course, my loving wife who is my biggest supporter.
