We had the good fortune of connecting with Daryl Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Daryl, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I began my career because I wanted to make the world a better and do what I could to end suffering. One of my most favorite quotes is “Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem” wich means “no one is a man that does not render the world a better place”. I was always good at chemistry and biology and had an early love for adventure and figuring out problems so I decided to use these skill to try to make the world a better place by combining these all together when I formed my research organization. I am able to combine my knowledge of chemistry and biology with my love of exploration to discover new drugs that can hopefully lead to saving lives

What should our readers know about your business?
My research team is considered to be somewhat unique in we are tasked with finding solutions to problems that are considered difficult or nearly impossible. My research team operates free of the influences of governments and financial institutions to achieve goals that strictly represent or lead to solutions to global issues. My team takes direction by Dr. Roscoe Moor Jr in which we “shadow” directives that are issued by leading global think tanks such as the Potomac Institute of Policy Studies, The World Economic Forum. Or the Biological Advanced Research and Development Authority. We will then select one of these missions to complete in which the resulting technology is then delivered to the organization that can best use it for good.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to the Everglades via a stop in on Marco Island, my home. Marco Island is an emerald jewel of an island with beautiful white sand beaches and playful dolphins that is right in the middle of the Everglades. I would pick you up at the airport on Friday afternoon and take you to a “Little Bar” with live entertainment and very good food but it would have to be an early night since it will be an early morning. We would get up early Saturday morning for a trip to Chokoloskee island for breakfast at the Havana Cafe which is renown for the best Cuban coffee. After breakfast we would head over to the marina in which we would board our research boat, the TigerFish. Once aboard we would head into the coastal regions of the Everglades, a vast remote expanse of wilderness known as the 10,000 Islands. Once there we would watch the Dolphins play and explore the endless white sandy beaches. Sooner or later our day would be cut short by the approaching thunderstorms and we would head back to the marina but not before stopping into the “Craby Lady” on Goodland Island for a late afternoon lunch and a large glass of refreshing homemade “Planters Punch”. After the storms roll past and subside, we would then head back to the cottage on Marco island and get ready for an evening of fun. We would first go to the “Snook Inn” for dinner under a gigantic “Chickee Hut” a beautiful handcrafted traditional shelter built by members of the Seminole tribe. The “Snook Inn” is known for there Mango Daquiri and Seafood. We would then wrap up the night dancing to a live rendition of Motown classics at the “La Tovola”

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would answer this question quite readily. The man who has inspired me the most is my mentor and advisor Dr. Roscoe Moore Jr. Dr. Moore is the previous Assistant Surgeon General of the United States and Epidemic Intelligence Service, the Global Viral Network and a Senior Fellow of the Potomac Institute for Policy Study. Dr. Moore Jr has been instrumental in guiding us to better at making the work a better place. Dr. Moore Jr and I also share a deep a appreciation for Dr. Washington Carver, a scientist who made wonderful discoveries in the worst time of American society but never let the incredible obstacles he faced overcome his desire to improve the lives of his fellow man. His vision and understanding is something we could very much use today.
