Meet Danielle Cornell | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Cornell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
In one of my poems, the words came to me, “I will not wither; I will only rest.” It’s important to listen to one’s body and intuition. I think that as long as we honor our needs and rest when needed, we can continue to be resilient. We set our pace in life even though we live in a hustle society. The lightest steps will still get us to where we need to be.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a mixture of photography, music, writing, and anything that my heart feels like channeling. It didn’t always come easy to me. I was always a private and guarded person until my anxiety caught up to me. I went through some very tough periods where creating was my tincture and language to cope. Sharing it has always been challenging because I have to consistently overcome some anxiety to show up authentically. Sometimes I retreat, but the most important thing I’ve learned from retreating is to be kinder to myself in all of my seasons, as hard as it can be. It has always felt like a purpose for me to share what I create with others. I’ve always wanted to give a voice where one is needed, and it’s truly helped me honor my own in doing so. I want the world to feel less alone, I want the world to have hope, and I want us to honor our humanity. I am really proud of my books of poems I self-published. It meant a lot to me to have them easily accessible. I also am really excited to finish recording my album and have it on vinyl.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to take them to Old Town Temecula. There are some really neat shops and restaurants. We could visit the record store, lavender shop, olive oil shop and antique stores. It has a lot of charm. Then, I would take them to the local rose garden where it is so lush and peaceful. We could take photos and paint with watercolors. I would show them my favorite little nook there beneath the rosy arbor and stone bench with etched flowers. After the rose garden, we could go on a drive through wine country and admire the countryside. We could eat at a winery or simply just bask in the beauty and tranquility. One of my favorite things to do is just pull off at a beautiful spot in the countryside and paint or take photos.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband. He has always shown me love and support, and he is my greatest inspiration. He is always authentic to himself and the most creative person I have ever known. Also, my brother. who has encouraged me to step out into spaces and share my music with others. He is recording my album for me, and he always believes in me. Also, anyone who has listened to my music or read my poems and felt connected has inspired me to keep creating and keep sharing.
