We had the good fortune of connecting with Cory Fisk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cory, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Short Term Sacrifice for Long Term Gain – We have to take accountability and realize that everything in life is because of a choice we have made. The choice to “plant seeds” and live the journey of life for the individual experiences rather then always trying to achieve the reward provides a sustainability in our adventure that gives us the energy for the long haul. The hard challenges we are faced with are opportunities for growth and development of a stable, strong foundation preparing us for vertical growth. Our mindset and how we view and define these experiences in our life are what create our thinking patterns, the emotion, and desire to act around the way we perceive life and all of its obstacles. Using this comprehension aligned with the understanding that this difficulty will not last forever and I have what it takes to make it through to the shining path of success – keeps me going. In reflection of my life, I recognize that even what I thought to be the hardest times, short term sacrifices, were really blessings preparing me for the gifts I now reap.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my career like most others – having no clue of what I was going to do. I was led by opportunities that seemed to take me towards a life that was in alignment with what I loved to do, which was rodeo and horses.

My dad was an owner/operator and so it gave me a front row seat into the Construction Industry. I worked every summer as a laborer to earn money for college, so after I graduated from Texas A & M University with an Animal Science Degree I thought I could pay off student loans quickly through working in construction and then be able to dive back into what I loved – working in the Equine Industry. Little did I know I would fall in love with Construction!

After working two years in the field as a laborer and equipment operator, a Texas Aggie Alumni heard a fellow Aggie was working in the field and offered me a job as an assistant construction manager. I jumped at the chance and it changed my life forever. I worked the next 10 to 12 years in Construction Management and then through personal changes and challenges, the introduction of two bouncing baby boys and a divorce, I shifted to teaching construction at the local community college.

I have had over 4,ooo students go through the Construction Management Technology Program over the last 18 years before being faced with termination over a College mandated policy. I’ve always felt there was a better way to offer education to those of us coming from field work to management and so I decided to change education for the Construction Industry. Construction Management Online offers the flexibility of learning while you work with the focus on human design, behavior comprehension and soft skill development. My hope is to offer a smoother transition from those who have spent their life under the tool belt into a management role that can utilize their common sense, industry knowledge and work ethic/morals. This is done by developing a standardized baseline of 8 Key Foundational Skills that we use in Construction and our Daily Life that can offer a smoother transition into Construction Management when we understand how to use what we already own. This Knowledge Transition Bridge uses the comprehension of the Human Operating System through Innate, Earned & Learned Skill development and how to transition Life Mastery into Project Mastery with the Masterplan Blueprint Destination Map.

I am passionate about teaching students to be the best they can be and help them see the opportunities available. You can’t see something you are too close to, I am able to see your potential and guide you through paths that exemplify potential into the perfect career in Construction Management!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Have you ever been to Nashville, Tennessee??? Friends, Music, Good Food & Drink make it one of the best places I have ever spent time and I would love to take you there. Besides the air being filled with music flowing from every door as you walk through the legendary bars and boot company storefronts downtown, the city boasts a historical presents that draws country music fans from all corners of the earth. The Grande O’le Opera is an intimate setting to hear some of the most notable music artists around the world and riding on a river cruise ship to end the night is a fantastic way to take in the local ambiance. Although the nightlife is second to none, I think you would also enjoy the beautiful, rolling green hills with pastures full of beautiful horses and big oak trees that I am sure bare the romantic carvings of hearts and initials of young lovers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to express gratitude & love for my dad introducing me to the construction industry where I have been able to collaborate with a number of supportive women who most align with my character, morals, personality and connectiveness.
