We had the good fortune of connecting with Connor Darnbrough and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Connor, what inspires you?
Connor: Seeing people and what they achieve through The Smart Fit Method and their stories of success, seeing the by-product of peoples health transformations, such as being to play with their kids, getting a better nights sleep , feeling like they have energy again, being able to stop themselves from taking a fall and feeling proud that they are taking care of themselves, . Exercise is a great entry point to a transformation, knowing that our program is a catalyst for these transformations is extremely rewarding
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Smart Fit Method is a program that focuses on optimizing peoples longevity through a hybrid approach of adaptive technology and professional assistance. The measurability of our program sets us apart from others. Our machines track every interval, set or rep and our trainers use this information to provide tailored advice on how we can get you better results in the facility and what you can be doing outside of the facility to enhance those results. All of this is tracked through our mobile app and at the facility, where you can see information about your muscle mass, fat mass, posture, risk for disease, cardiovascular strength and muscular strength. Seeing the members progress in all of these areas, including how they see improvements in their personal life is what inspires me each and every day.
I believe that i am, where i am today, business wise; by focussing on the value i can create in others lives rather than how much they compensate me. I also possess standard characteristics that anyone who is to be successful must possess. I like to apply common sense and an optimistic outlook to everything in life.
It goes without saying there have been many people that have supported and mentored me on this journey.
When asked if it was easy, i believe nothing in life worth doing comes easy. However, if you focus on something bigger than just yourself it makes succeeding less difficult.
I have learned many lessons, through not just my failures, but also my successes. If there is one key lesson that i would like to point out, it would be that everything that you pursue comes at the sacrifice of something else and it is up to you to decide what you are willing to sacrifice for what you want in your life.
Personally, i would like people to feel a positive impact from my existence, rather than people know of my existence.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anyone who comes to visit me is most likely going to be taken out of their comfort zone and immersed in nature. Some of the activities that would be on the itinerary would be archery, jiujitsu, surfing, rock climbing, rucking and mountain biking. Most likely we would do these activities whilst camping. There are so many beautiful places to camp in California, whilst i can’t give specific spots, i would recommend you look at the dyrt.com, freeroam.app, and freecampsites.net for a variety of paid and dispersed campsites. Chances are i would introduce friends to different music venues in the genres of rock, reggae or country.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I thank my dad, Co-Founder of The Smart Fit Method, Rob Darnbrough. Through his transformation of learning to thrive with his heart condition is what inspired me to help others in similar circumstances. I would like to thank all of the members who work out at our facilities because without them the program and the community wouldn’t be what it is. Because of the members I get fulfillment every time i step into a facility.
I have a multitude of teachers, family, friends and mentors; without them i wouldn’t be the man i am today and the program wouldn’t be able to do what it does for people.
