We had the good fortune of connecting with Christine Germain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christine, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a career in writing novels because it has been a passion of mine for over 30 years. I love the art of story telling and bringing readers into my imaginative world. I wanted to be able to showcase diversity in literary from a very young age and I am Very proud that I am able to share that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I never thought in a million years that I would publish a book let alone a continuing series. I started my writing journey when I was a pre-teen but never thought that I would turn it into a career until I was in my late 30’s.
My key challenges in the beginning of my authors path was how to publish the novel and find the best editors and cover creators. I went through some rough patches trying to figure out what was going to attract the readers. I do not have that problem now.
There was never a moment I wanted to give up on my book. The simple fact that I was blessed with the creative juices to rewrite the story after many decades of writer’s block there was no way I was quitting.
I’ve learned that you need to have a lot of discipline and patience. Self Publishing isn’t for the weak. You need to know that a path as a writer has no straight line. There are ups and downs and times where you don’t know if you are cut out for this career. Everyday I wake up I say “It’s Possible” because anything can happen when you least expect it. I try to find ways each day that can better my career and help me grow in the process. It’s a learning experience.
I chose to self-publish because I wanted to own the full rights to my work. There is something special about the story I’ve created that I wanted to keep as unique as possible and I didn’t feel comfortable with the thought of multiple hands having access to my manuscript and fixing it to their liking. I wanted to stay true to my art and to myself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the city and going to the winery
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank you grandmother for always supporting my writing and continues to push me and motivate me to be the best version of myself everyday.
