Meet Christina Viola, Dan Kane and Jacob Lanza, Owners of Inspired Coffee Roasters

We had the good fortune of connecting with the Owners of Inspired Coffee Roasters – Christina Viola, Dan Kane and Jacob Lanza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Inspired, is there something that you all feel is most responsible for your business’s success?
The biggest driver has been our friendship. From the start, it’s been rooted in trust, honesty, and shared values, which has made challenges easier and wins more meaningful. Coffee and adventure sparked the idea for Inspired, but community has always been at the heart of it. For us, coffee is the vehicle and connection is the destination—whether it’s a regular finding comfort in their daily cup or someone discovering our coffee for the first time.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We’re an owner-operated third-wave coffee roaster curating specialty coffees with unique flavor profiles from around the world. All of our green coffee beans are organic and ethically sourced, our customers are loving the nuanced flavors coming through our lighter roast profile. Our limited release coffee subscription is the best way to try what we’re most excited about. We also offer variety packs and single bags of all specialty coffees available online, as well as at our café on Hamilton St. in North Park, San Diego.
Inspired Coffee Roasters was born out of a love for coffee and people, chasing what moves you, sharing it boldly, and inviting others to do the same. We’re not just here to serve great coffee—we want to inspire. Passion is contagious, and if sharing ours sparks something in others, we’ve done our job.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If our best friends were visiting San Diego, we’d start with a walk to Inspired Coffee Roasters for a chill morning fueled by a cup of our house blend “Muse”, followed by a taste of home – delicious NY style bagels from our good friend Mike Rabinowitz, owner and sole bagel-maker at Marigolds Bagels. He’s opening his first brick and mortar in the coming months, a must try! Then spend the day hiking, beach cruising, visiting the San Diego Zoo, and watching the sunset at Sunset Cliffs. Evenings would be filled with good food—Bahn Thai, Tacotarian, Hane Sushi, Cesarina—and live music at Lou Lou’s Jungle Room inside The Lafayette Hotel or The North Park Observatory.
San Diego is all about balance: great food, natural beauty, creative energy, and a welcoming community. It’s laid-back but buzzing with art and sunshine—and it never gets old.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d love to recognize the entrepreneurs and creatives who inspire us, including Marigold Bagels, Good Measure, California Roasting Collective, University Heights Women’s Walk, August & Mae, Some Cute Sht, Teresa LoJacono (TLP Weddings), Jill’s Pizza Popup, 2052 Dinners, Birdie Babes Disc Golf, and Good Vibes Ranch & Farm.
