We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Hernandez Wooldridge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina Hernandez, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would attribute the growing success of Trivia Goat to thick skin and tenacity. What I learned very quickly was that success doesn’t just happen overnight. You can’t expect sales to be through the roof because you sent out a few email campaigns, created engaging social media posts, or made countless sales calls. Instant gratification does not exist in certain seasons. It could be months before (if you ever see) a return from those specific efforts. But every day you have to remain motivated to keep moving the needle. Sales can be a long game at times and I needed to accept that truth before I let the silence in interest take over my drive to push through it. On the flip side, I would say that when it rains, it often pours. I’ve learned to accept the ebbs and flows of business and when in doubt, to continue to just put one foot in front of the other because you never know what can come from it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Trivia Goat, we are here to put an end to the slow, dull, boring pen and paper trivia by proving a 100% digital platform. This means more questions, more fun, and less waiting around grading papers! This also means more repeat business for our partners and just an overall awesome night for everyone involved.

Like most businesses in the hospitality and entertainment industry, surviving the economic shutdown of 2020 was not easy. However, it did provide us an opportunity to also explore and incorporate online opportunities. In addition to weekly in-person trivia or in-person special events, we now offer remote trivia events. Trivia in general is a perfect activity for corporate team building events, school and nonprofit fundraisers or any group celebration! Games can be themed and personalized to fit any occasion.

Trivia Goat is a family business and we invite you to be a part of it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Visitors are my favorite and the only way to embrace a city is to eat and drink your way through it haha! I’d start with a biscuit, gravy & sausage breakfast at Big Kitchen in South Park (dogs with us of course!) and make a quick pit stop at Grape Street Dog Park after. Then head over to Mike Hess (Seaport Village, Ocean Beach, or Imperial Beach) for beers with a view. They all have great ocean views and vibes. Then we’d make our way to The Rabbit Hole in Normal Heights for dinner and maybe toss some bags on the corn hole boards on the back patio. In a perfect world, we’d catch a nap and end the day with a sneaky tiki nightcap at The Turf Club in Golden Hill.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Trivia Goat is a total team effort! From our exceptional team members to long-term partners…we have been very fortunate to work with some amazing individuals. For example, David West, one of our first team members who has held almost every role- he’s truly the man, the myth, and the legend of Trivia Goat! From host, manager to writer, David continues to leave a lasting impression at events he emcees and with anyone he meets on our behalf- we’ve been very lucky to have his support for so long. We also have new team members like Austin Lake who upon hiring didn’t hesitate to support our new growth after Covid in any way he could (even made an awesome promor video for us!) Every week he ensures that the “show goes on” and currently trains, coaches and manages our team at such a high level- his contributions have been invaluable and we are very fortunate that he is with us. Our team as a whole has been a bleesing. They are all so talented and dedicated to their roles- they are the real GOATS of this operation. In addition to our staff, we’d love to shoutout some of our long time parters like The Rabbit Hole, Mike Hess, Cass St, BNS Brewing & Distilling and The Local (downtown). They have stuck with us through some tough times and we are so greatful to have their continued support!
