We had the good fortune of connecting with Cherry Estrella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cherry, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most significant lesson my career has taught me is the importance of passion and patience. I firmly believe that to create something meaningful, you must genuinely love what you’re building. Early on, I struggled with impatience, wanting immediate results. However, I’ve learned that true growth takes time—time to learn, adapt, and improve. Embracing this process is essential for lasting success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

As a hairstylist and content creator, my art is all about transforming not just hair, but also the way people feel about themselves. What sets me apart is my dedication to blending creativity with education, ensuring my clients leave not only looking beautiful but also empowered.

I’m most proud of the community I’ve built—both in my salon and online—where I can inspire others and share my passion for hair artistry. My journey began with a love for creativity and self-expression, but it hasn’t always been easy. I have definitely struggled with self-doubt and the need to constantly adapt in a fast-paced industry. Overcoming these hurdles involved leaning into my passion and seeking mentorship. I’ve learned to embrace failure as a learning opportunity.

Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of authenticity, connection, and perseverance. I want the world to know that my brand is not just about hair; it’s about celebrating individuality and fostering confidence.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, I love setting up itineraries! For a week-long trip, we could start with a morning walk at Torrey Pines Beach or enjoy a sunset picnic at La Jolla Cove. We’d stroll through Balboa Park and visit one of the museums. I’d definitely take her to the Convoy area, my go-to for Asian food—right now, my favorite is Yokohama Yakitori Koubou! We could also enjoy drinks at the Lafayette Hotel. These are the main things I would make sure we do. There’s so much to do in San Diego; it truly is an amazing city!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my family and my clients. My family has been my unwavering support, my true rock throughout this journey. To my clients, you are my greatest motivators and advocates, and I truly appreciate each of you. Thank you for being such an integral part of my success.
