We had the good fortune of connecting with Chai Onmavong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chai, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process for starting my own business was shaped by my professional career as a bookkeeper and tax professional. I saw firsthand how both businesses and individuals struggled to get the right kind of support with their financial needs, from bookkeeping to tax preparation. It was clear they weren’t getting the right kind of support.

I saw a widespread problem where a lack of accountability and due diligence left people feeling uncertain and stressed. They simply wanted to feel confident that their finances were being handled with professional care.

That’s why my ultimate goal became to provide a service that was a direct answer to those frustrations and, most importantly, to give them a better experience. I wanted to build a business that was not only professional but also reliable, a service that both business owners and individuals could trust. For me, it’s about giving clients the peace of mind that allows them to feel confident and stress less at the end of the day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The lessons I’ve learned along the way have been a huge part of my professional growth, impacting me both personally and professionally. Early on, I quickly learned that every client’s financial situation is unique, and that taught me I had to be able to adapt and be resourceful with every new challenge. This dedication to finding the right solution for each unique situation is what allows me to provide a great, customized service. Part of that growth was also learning to navigate all sorts of personalities. You’re going to meet all kinds of people in business, and improving my interpersonal skills has been one of the most important lessons, helping me truly connect with every client.

In addition, my commitment to continuous education is a big deal to me. The world of taxes and bookkeeping is always changing, and staying on top of the latest regulations, new technology, and best practices is a non-negotiable part of my commitment to my clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I’m based in Fresno, I’d love to share some of my favorite spots with you. If you want to dive into the local food scene, you have to try some of the amazing Asian cuisine. You can’t go wrong with AC Deli, B&K restaurant, Sandy’s Chili, Na Nah Thong, LA Kitchen, or Savory Bite. And for tacos, we’d have to do a tour. I’d take you to 559 Taqueria, Don Pepe, or LA Elegante.

When you want to find good food, drinks, and music all in one place, I’d suggest checking out Papa’s Place, Coltons, The Point, or Modernist. If you’re looking for a late night out, you could head to a club like The Rose, Club Encore, or Switch. For something with a more relaxed vibe, we’d hit up Vibez or Strummers.

You can’t beat the access we have to the great outdoors. It’s truly a special part of living here. I would definitely take you to Yosemite National Park as it’s a must-see. The drive is beautiful and totally worth it. For something a bit more laid-back, we could head to Shaver Lake or even take a longer drive to Lake Tahoe. It’s amazing that we can be in these incredible places with under four hours of driving.

To get a feel for the area, we’d explore the city’s unique culture and history. We’d start with the Forestiere Underground Gardens, a truly fascinating and one-of-a-kind historical site. Or, we’d take a short drive to Old Town Clovis for a completely different, small-town feel.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
That’s a great question, and it makes me think about how much support it really takes to build something. My biggest shoutout goes to two groups who have made all the difference: my family, and the business owners and individuals who trusted me with their financial needs.

My family has been my rock and my biggest cheerleading squad from the very start. Their unwavering belief in my vision gave me the courage to take this leap. They not only supported the work I do but also served as my first, most trusted source of free advertisement. Without their constant encouragement and love, this business would not exist.

To my clients, I want to express my deepest gratitude. Your decision to trust me with your financial needs didn’t just allow me to build my business, it gave me the opportunity to build the career I have today. Every single one of you gave me a profound vote of confidence, which fueled my experience and built the foundation of my professional life. I am truly thankful for your trust and support.

And I can’t forget the friends, colleagues, and others who shared their advice along the way. Your guidance, encouragement, and support, big or small, have helped me learn, grow, and navigate all the ups and downs of building this business.

Outside of doing bookkeeping and taxes I take photos here and there when I am out and about of things I find interesting.
