Meet Cassie Dominach | Doctor of Chinese Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Dominach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I decided to pursue my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, I knew that I wanted to master the craft of acupuncture, and help as many people as I could with this medicine. I knew that I wanted to positively impact others, help ease their quality of life in some way, and use this medicine to change the world.
What I realized (about half way through my clinical and academic studies) was that in order to accomplish that dream, I had to find a way to let the people who needed me know that I existed. I realized that even the BEST Doctor of Chinese medicine wouldn’t be helping anyone at all if they didn’t know how to attract clients and get them into their office.
I started building my business when I was still a student at Pacific College of Health and Science, by using social media to bring patients into my clinical internship. From there, I became more confident with sharing my knowledge online, decided to go all in, and started brainstorming my dream clinic that is now my private practice, Sage Haven.
Once I graduated with my Master’s and Doctorate degrees and passed my California state board exam, it was go time. I was ready to start changing lives, and creating my dream practice. I defined my services, pricing, logo, branding, website and looked at office spaces all across San Diego, until choosing the perfect location in Pacific Beach. Sage Haven officially opened its doors on June 1st, 2021, and that is when it all began.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sage Haven is an acupuncture clinic and holistic wellness center located in San Diego, California. Sage Haven is a safe space to transform into the highest version of yourself. A place where we understand that health is the highest form of wealth, and we work together to help you achieve optimal wellness and restoration.
Each holistic wellness treatment is customized to meet the needs of each individual patient, as we do not believe in “one size fits all” medicine. We believe in making each patient feel heard, supported, and empowered to participate in the healing process. We strive to create a relaxing and supportive environment, as each acupuncture treatment takes place on a PEMF Biomat, while binaural beats are playing throughout the office to enhance the experience. Our services include acupuncture, glass fire cupping, cosmetic acupuncture, holistic microneedling, herbal medicine and nutritional therapy.
We treat many health conditions including acute and chronic pain management, mental-emotional support for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and stress management, digestive conditions including IBS and Crohn’s Disease, women’s health conditions, menstrual irregularities, hormonal imbalance, upper respiratory conditions, allergies, skin conditions, and immune support. We also specialize in holistic aesthetics, including cosmetic acupuncture for facial rejuvenation and microneedling.
Within our first six months of opening our doors, we have provided over 500 treatments to residents of the greater San Diego area. We are so grateful for each patient who trusts us with their health and wellbeing, and are looking forward to expanding to multiple locations across the United States in the years to come. This is just the beginning for Sage Haven, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds, and how many lives we will be able to truly impact.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely start our days at any one of the amazing cafes that we have here in San Diego. Some of my top picks would be Holy Matcha, Better Buzz, Communal Coffee, Palmy’s, Lofty Coffee, Spill the Beans, Lazy Eye Coffee and Copa Vida.
We would then go check out the views and ocean breeze on any of the hiking trails at Torrey Pines State Park. After that, we would window shop at the boutiques in La Jolla and check out the sea lions at the Cove. When we worked up an appetite, we would head up to the rooftop at Triology Sanctuary for a yummy lunch and maybe an acro-yoga class.
We would then head down to Ocean beach to check out the farmer’s market, watch the sunset and grab some drinks at Wonderland Ocean Pub. From there, we would head off to dinner at OB Noodle House 1502, and check out Kilowatt Brewery.
The next day, we would start our day with a rooftop yoga class at Awarewolf, then go to Balboa Park, check out the Botanical Garden, and some of the museums. From there, we would head downtown to Seaport Village, and go on a boat tour of the harbor on the Hornblower Cruise. After that, we would grab drinks in Little Italy at Nolita Hall or Kettner Exchange, and then have dinner at Davanti Enoteca or Barbusa.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout my boyfriend Blake for always encouraging me, supporting me, cheering me on, and inspiring me. Thank you for being my number one fan, my rock, and for believing in me more than I believe in myself sometimes.
I also want to dedicate this shoutout to both of my parents, for always believing in me, supporting me and encouraging me in everything I have accomplished. Thank you both for teaching me the strong work ethic that I have today, and inspiring me to always go after my dreams.
I also want to dedicate this shoutout to all of my teachers and clinical instructors at Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, California. Each one of you have impacted me in different ways, guided me, and paved the road for my path to begin with Chinese medicine.
