Meet Carrie Bromer | FURtastic Pet Care

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie Bromer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carrie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started FURtastic Pet Care a few years ago, while I was finishing my under-grad program because I needed income but also flexibility. As an animal lover and being experienced with working and training animals my entire life, it was a great way to earn income while a student.

I’m a mom of two teenagers (and a 6 yr. old green cheek conure bird and 11 yr. old white boxer – in photos below), so I needed a stress free and enjoyable work environment. Starting a pet care business a was a perfect solution! I then went on to grad school and earned my master’s degree in healthcare administration, graduating at the top of my class with a 4.0 and Suma cum lade honors. Afterward, I put my pet care business on the back burner to pursue my career with a large healthcare system. Within 2 years I moved up the ladder to a supervisor, overseeing 20 medical specialty departments.

Overtime, I realized how much happier I was when I had been working with pets, which is where my true passion in lifewas so obvious to me. In April of this year, I decided to do something about it! Within 24 hours,

I designed and ordered business cards and flyers, contacted old clients, and refreshed my old business profiles on social media etc. Here I am 5 months later and can confidently say it was the best decision of my life!

What should our readers know about your business?
My soul craves and loves working with all animals. I take my work seriously but have fun too! FURtastic Pet Care is licensed and insured, and I plan to continue growing throughout north
county and more! My services include dog training, dog walking, dog hiking adventures, drop-in
pet care visits, and more!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many places, but for sure – Carlsbad State Beach, Warm Waters and the Jetty, our lagoons, Carlsbad Alley Art Wall, Choice Juicery, Pollos Marias, Handle’s Ice Cream, Oceanside
Pier, the Wednesday Carlsbad Village Farmer’s Market, Witt’s Carlsbad Pipelines, SurfRide,
Carlsbad Pet & Feed, and more!
