We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Carterette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caroline, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote is, “Life is tough but so are you”. I love this quote and I try to live by it. I think everyone can relate to going through a hard time in life and feeling beaten down. Reminding yourself that its normal to go through struggles in life is so important. I often find that I am my worst critic. Many of my friends and family have related to me in this sense and I think reminding ourselves that we are tough and we will make it through stronger than before is so important.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I created my blog as a creative outlet and something that I can do for myself. I often find myself prioritizing others before myself and although I like supporting everyone around me, I found that I was struggling to find things I liked to do, or hobbies that I enjoyed during my alone time. Creating this blog has been an amazing way for me to speak my mind and feel heard at the same time. I have gotten so much support and messages from people saying they loved my post or how it was so relatable for them and thats exactly what I am striving for. If I can have one person relate, then I will have felt accomplished because I know I am not alone and they know they’re not alone. I write when I have time to or when I feel creative and I am so thankful that this is a fun and relaxing outlet for me and not a stressor. It is a great relief of stress for me to create a post and have fun with it. I’ve learned that the topics I am nervous to write about are the topics that get the most attention and are most relatable. Putting myself out there helps others and I am so appreciative of that.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love my City of Carlsbad and I am so blessed to have been raised here. If someone were to visit, I would suggest, hiking Torrey Pines and going to Old Town. Old Town could be a fun thing to do at night for cocktails and a walk around town. Spending days at the beach swimming or surfing would be fun and maybe throwing in a few rounds of golf. My favorite beach spots are South Ponto, Reds and Tower 37. I am a big advocate for coffee so I suggest Steady State Coffee, Vinaka, Philz in Encinitas or Revolution Roasters in South Oceanside. My favorite breakfast and brunch spots are Beach Plum Kitchen, Shorehouse, and Don’s Country Kitchen. My favorite Mexican food is Cessy’s and Norte’s and my favorite Italian spot is Spiritos. I also love Hooked on Sushi. For dessert, Gelatolove or Handles Ice Cream in Carlsbad Village and a walk at sunset in the sand. I would be sure to show off the Cardiff kook and take a bike ride along the coast!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and family have always been my biggest supporters. If I have a goal, they help me reach it. Sometimes my ideas may be crazy or hard to handle but they always support me and love me no matter what. If I didn’t have them, I don’t know who I would be or where I would be. I am eternally grateful for everything they have done for me. I have sweet friends who take photos of me, support me, and are always there for me!
