We had the good fortune of connecting with Carla Daniela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a child I had the dream of opening my own atelier where I could create and help clients’ visions come to life and create unique and customized gowns and garments. Very early in life I started trading toys for the fabrics that would be left from my Grandma Albertina’s sewing. I would transform them into specialty gowns, evening gowns and two-piece dresses. I guess I was very fortunate at an early age to have my grandmother Albertina show me the importance of tailoring, sewing, and people’s interest in looking good and feeling their best. After studying in high school in the arts field I worked with many different seamstresses and later enrolled in college and graduated with a degree in Fashion and Textile Design. I arrived in the United States in 2009 and worked with a renowned tailor. I decided one year after to take my own road and follow my passion for tailoring and open “Tailor Love.” I am very proud to say that we are now celebrating 13 years in business and going strong. In 2021, we received the proclamation that November 1st will officially be Tailor Love day from the City of San Diego and the Mayor Tod Gloria.

What should our readers know about your business?
At Tailor Love we specialize in a variety of tailoring techniques, and we have experience in redesigning vintage wedding dresses, bridesmaids, tailoring, and working on luxury wedding brands. We listen to our clients’ visions to alter their existing gowns and garments to make them look and feel great. I believe customers decide to trust and engage with Tailor Love based on our client’s positive reviews. Tailor Love’s reputation within the market has been built based on our quality work, consistency, creativity and experience, customer service, accountability, professionalism, honesty, and other company key values.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am so fortunate to live in sunny San Diego and always happy to take my friends to Balboa Park and visit all the beautiful museums, attractions, explore landmarks, and have some food and cocktails at The Prado restaurant and relax among lush landscapes and gorgeous architecture. I would take my friends to visit the beautiful Hotel Coronado and walk by the beach and enjoy the city. Drive to Seaport Village and make sure we visit the USS Midway Museum, then go for some good Mexican food and margaritas at Old Town. Drive up to Oceanside and visit the “Top Gun” house and enjoy the famous high pie with homemade mascarpone ice cream. And enjoy San Diego miles of beautiful beaches, historical attractions, and weather.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to all my Happy Brides that have allowed us to be a part of their special wedding day by tailoring their beautiful wedding gowns. I am very grateful to all my brides and customers because they have helped me build my business, and have come from San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, Arizona, Chicago, Hawaii and even other places. Thank you to all my brides and customers for allowing me to fulfill my purpose and for recognizing my work.
