Meet Bronson Pate | Owner/Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bronson Pate and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bronson, what makes you happy? Why?
There are many things that are making me most happy with our business these days! It has been a big year for us – I purchased the business last year though I have worked for the company for the last 20 years. It has been so rewarding to see it thrive even though I’ve never thought about myself as a typical business owner. God has helped me so much in feeling confident to take on this wonderful challenge. I love seeing our team satisfied and excited by the work we get to do and my wife has also been excited and supportive which also makes me happy!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are a commercial photography studio located in Grantville, San Diego – we have the largest photography studio in the area and are proud to photograph small to large corporate events, headshots, portraits, and product photography. We are unique in having a full-time staff dedicated to planning, executing, and turning around all images quickly and with extra care. It has been a lot of hard work but FUN work getting to this point. Like many others, the hardest part is trying to maintain the coveted “work life balance” which I honestly don’t think is possible. It’s a matter of constant assessment of the most urgent needs in business and family and I certainly don’t always do it best! Our brand is one of the longest running in San Diego and we promise you’ll have a seamless and enjoyable experience with us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a best friend visiting San Diego, and it was my job to show them around, I’d start with a burrito stop or In-N-Out, and a chill afternoon/evening near the beach or Sunset Cliffs. This would be followed by bike rides in Coronado or a whale watching tour, then dinner at Books and Records, and a speakeasy visit to Convoy Music Bar or Realm of the 52 Remedies. If they had the time and money, dinner at Born and Raised would also be essential after a visit to Balboa Park to see a couple museums. If it was be Christmas time, Hotel Lafayette would also be a necessary stop. One afternoon would also be dedicated to a speedy road trip through the twisties to Julian for pie and cider tasting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My best friend, Jared Bauman, started our company 23 years ago and was a gracious, talented and wonderful leader. Jeff and Erin Youngren who took over years later and who I purchased the business from were the same way. However, ultimately, all glory goes to God!
