We had the good fortune of connecting with Bridget Crisp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bridget, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been more on the artistic side as I was introduced to it from a young age and let’s say, it always flowed through me because of genes too. When I was younger, I had quite a knack for drawing and I guess that love kind of grew so I could appreciate and explore different kinds of art. As I got older, I realized that I loved to take pictures, even of random things. It was only until 2020, when someone said to me that I should actually put some stuff out there, did I think to myself, “Hm…maybe I could take this further and make something of it” – and that’s what I went on to do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Wow, tough question. What probably sets my work apart, is my style of photography. I know what I like to photograph and how as well as how I like to edit.

I must say, I’m very proud of the portfolio I’ve been able to build so far, considering I don’t have the “proper equipment” most people in this industry use. I’m excited to put more of my work out there for people to recognize and appreciate and I look forward to progressing and getting better and better.

How did I get here? Baby steps. I’m still taking them right now in order to get to where I see myself with this career in the future.

I’ve definitely learnt to not doubt myself and feel discouraged, but to keep pushing and keep doing what I love because people will see that love in my work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest, I haven’t been here very long myself so there’s still a lot for me to see and explore. So if my best friend was to come here, I guess we would just go exploring new places together!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, I’d like to thank my grandfather for instilling the love of snapping within me. He always had his camera ready to capture every moment. I’d then like to thank my friends who recognized my skill and encouraged me to take it a step further. I would never have thought of taking photography seriously if it wasn’t for them. They all still encourage me to go on and give me the utmost support, alongside my family. I especially want to thank my very supportive mother, who so appreciates the arts as well. She knows my dreams and is always willing to be dragged into a photoshoot.
