Meet Brianna Sanchez | Event Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianna, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am lucky enough to call San Diego, California “home”- LA’s way more relaxed cousin. I could not imagine growing up Mexican and not living so cozily next to our family across the border. Our proximity to the Motherland meant everything but not until later did I realize how important it would be that I could tap into my duality of being Mexican-American. Without neighborhood walks to Northgate in Barrio Logan to pickup queso fresco or running laps around all levels of Horton Plaza for the sake of our juvenile pleasure, there wouldn’t be the Brianna that tries to capture moments that mirror those wide-eyed, child-like feelings and memories

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m proudest of the moments I get to create for others and their loved ones. For their big night or big day, for their very own special moment. I see embraces from one person to the next and hear the giggles of the youngest with their elders. I watch from the sideline but I see myself in each of them and that is enough. Through bringing people together, I’ve learned the message and importance of togetherness can’t be lost. Each community has to remind itself of empathy as a tool for connection and look past the shiny, bright lights of the stage.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
About 3 years ago, my work led me to LA and I’ve been in paradise ever since. I quickly learned Raw Cane Super Juice Bar has the most delicious, chemical-free, non-genetically-modified natural juices and smoothies AKA elixirs of gold, that’s without a doubt stop #1. Right up the street is Griffith Park where there are endless trails for every type of hiker, it’s not a complete Los Angeles trip without a hike. Hikers get hungry too so next up is everyone’s favorite sandwich spot Ggiata for some Italian classics and a San Pellegrino Limonata. Hey, sometimes the popular option is actually good. There has to be time for a nice stroll around the Silverlake Reservoir, maybe even a book and snacks-filled picnic. Or if that’s entirely too much work (which I understand), just book a reservation at Botanica down the street and order 3 of the lamb kebabs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Isabella Lino has the kindest soul but stands her ground like no one I’ve seen. When Isabella and I began working together in San Francisco, I felt the “never having an older sister” void fill up fairly quickly. She owns who she is and fearlessly herself. Isabella makes the top #10 list of being the best at juggling many hats in life and doing so authentically.
