We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana Robertson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, how do you think about risk?
I am a firm believer that if you want to live to your full potential you have to take risks. If you’re not taking risks then you are probably settling for less than you deserve. Whenever you embark on a new business or project, you are going to have to take risks in order to succeed. It is going to take time, energy, and money with no guarantee that you will gain any of it back. On the flip side, it can also give you the greatest reward. This is where faith comes in. Faith is the secret sauce to success.

I know in my own life, every move I have made was a risk with me not knowing the outcome, but I just had faith that God always had my back that there was no loss that I could not bounce back from. When I first graduated law school and starting my career, I moved to Georgia with a suitcase and a car, with no job prospects in sight. I was going from one family members house to another, pounding the pavement looking for a job, and I eventually found one in Augusta, GA. Just when I was starting to get comfortable, my now husband proposed. The thing was, he lived in Louisiana. So I left EVERYTHING, and moved, without a bar license, job, just my suitcase and car. It was hard, But, I made it. I developed a blossoming career as a Prosecutor in Louisiana. But even then, I felt I was settling. I then felt God lead me into starting my own business. So I left my comfortable job and decided to branch out on my own. It was scary, it was hard, I had bills, I had a new baby, and there was no promise that it would be successful. But I knew that in order to achieve the life I wanted, I had to take the risk.

Now, I have a thriving law firm, The Law Office of Briana C. Robertson, where I am able to help entrepreneurs and creatives in their own risk taking endeavors. I help entrepreneurs and creatives by helping them protect their brands and their content, through trademarks, copyrights, contracts, and proper business formation, because let’s face it, when it comes to business and content creation, nobody likes a copycat. I also offer legal strategy sessions where we sit down and look over all the risks and legal weaknesses in their business and help them prepare for them. In addition to my law firm I have released a new project called Hello Confidence where I encourage people to overcome their fears so they can live life to their fullest potential. Because I have taken so many risks in my own life, I am able to walk my clients through the risks that they will inevitably have to take. I’ve been there, I am there, so I understand.

What should our readers know about your business?
The Law Office of Briana C. Robertson is a law firm for entrepreneurs and creatives. Specifically we help entrepreneurs and creatives make sure they are legally protected by having the proper business set up whether that be an LLC, non-profit or otherwise, brand protection via trademarks and trademark enforcement, content protection via copyrights, and helping draft and review contracts.

I got into helping entrepreneurs through my own journey of opening my law firm. When I first began, I knew nothing about how to start a business. I knew you needed an LLC, and that was about it. However, I had a family and I could not risk losing everything, so I had to learn quickly. As I began to learn about everything you need to legally protect your business, I couldn’t help but think that if I, a lawyer, didn’t know these things, I’m sure that a layperson without.a law degree doesn’t know these things. I also understood that big businesses have a team of lawyers at the ready to make sure they are legally protected and I believe that small businesses should have the same opportunity. Hence, why one of my major practice areas is helping entrepreneurs. In addition to helping entrepreneurs, I also practice in criminal law and personal injury. I love being a voice for those who are otherwise silenced, and that is seen more and more in our criminal justice system. I love what I do, and I love to help people.

I also have a passion for helping others live to their fullest potential by encouraging them to overcome their fears and to live in confidence. This is why I just launched my new project, Hello Confidence where I encourage others to live outside their comfort zone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Me and my friends are pretty chill people who love food, so naturally a good time would revolve around food with a few activities sprinkled in. I believe we would start the day with a good massage and relaxation at Woodhouse Day Spa.

Afterward we would grab brunch at Olive or Twist in Baton Rouge. We would then spend time either hanging out by the river walk or catching a movie. After the movie we would end the night at Parrain’s Seafood Restaurant, they have an awesome pan seared fish!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to thank God first and foremost! Without God I could do nothing. I also have to shoutout my husband, Blaine Robertson. He has been my biggest supporter in all of my risk taking endeavors. He has always believed in me and believed that I would be successful at whatever I put my mind to. So much so that he has often took on additional burdens so that I could take the necessary risks to live at my fullest potential. He has been my biggest encourager when I didn’t feel so confident, and reminds me to celebrate my accomplishments. I also have to shoutout to my family and friends in supporting me in my journey.
