We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Ferrari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
As canned a response as it sounds the habit of constant forward movement – despite any and all set backs – is probably the single largest contributor to where I am today. This goes hand-in-hand with not being afraid to fail (or at least learning from it when it happens), getting outside of your comfort zone, and being forever a student throughout the process. Of course there is a shoutout to all the tangential habits that have helped maintain the progress such as a focus on health, diet and exercise along with a balance of time with family and friends.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ferrari Images was created as a bit of a stage name – as ‘Ferrari’ is my mothers maiden name. It carries a certain degree of recognition and is a bit easier to pronounce than ‘Peregrina’. I say this all because what I’ve come to build as a business in the space of A&D photography is a service that can operate at incredible speed. While the art form itself is largely dedicated to patience and a slowed process – I’ve prided myself of my ability to mobilize for projects at a moments notice and deliver results nearly just as fast. The construction side of the business often leaves minimal windows to photograph certain work before tenants move in – so at times I’ll get a 24-48hr notice and be onsite quite quickly. Clients appreciate it and depend on me to document their work on these tight timelines. Post production is augmented through a team that I’ve been working with for nearly a decade and also allow for operational efficiencies that enable quick turnaround. Some clients have needed finished photos for award submissions, presentations, or other deliverables days after a shoot and while it’s a welcomed challenge – I’ve always been able to meet those deadlines. Ferrari Images is about speed, efficiency, and ultimately…looking good while doing it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the 12+ years I’ve been able to call myself an Angeleno, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of living in just about every major area that SoCal has to offer – DTLA, Hollywood, Larchmont, the Valley, OC, Long Beach, Pasadena, etc. – so I can usually give a pretty solid tour that can be as expansive as the list above, or can be as granular as hitting up a specific district in any one city. If you want a view for happy hour I like 71Above in DTLA or Perch if you’re afraid of heights. The Little Door is a great spot for a dinner and Good Times at Davey Waynes is a good retro throwback to the 70’s to grab a drink. The Arts District has some killer eats and drinks (Wurstküche and Angel City come to mind) as does K-Town (Castle BBQ). Colorado Blvd and Green st. in Pasadena are a host to many walkable spots and has a nice vibe for coffee, sweets and bar scene. Truly hard to pick….

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Family and friends have been a pillar of continued support throughout my journey – that has been a constant force. However, there have been a number of people out there that I have to give a catalyst credit to. The risk-takers who put their trust in me and gave me guidance as I entered the actual profession of being an architectural photographer. At the time, he was the Interior Design Director at HOK’s Los Angeles office – Clay Pendergrast – where we had established a rapport thanks to my day job. In my time getting to know him he came to know of my intent to pursue photography. He gave me one of my very first paid jobs with a world-renowned firm and ultimately helped launch my career. Leading up to that moment I spent a summer assisting 2 of the LA area’s biggest A&D photographers – Art Gray and Benny Chan. I learned a bit more about the business, the art, and the process from both and also give them much credit in helping me along my path.
