We had the good fortune of connecting with Brea Menees and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brea, why did you pursue a creative career?
Choosing an artistic or creative career is often driven by a deep passion for self-expression and a desire to make a positive impact on others. For me, the decision to pursue a career in fashion and personal styling was a natural progression, as creativity runs through my veins. Through fashion, I found a medium that allows me to communicate emotions, thoughts, and personal flair. Moreover, I discovered the transformative power of enhancing someone’s style, fostering confidence, and empowering individuals to embrace their uniqueness. Self-Expression and Personal Style:
Fashion serves as a visual language, enabling individuals to articulate their personalities, moods, and attitudes. The ability to experiment with colors, textures, and silhouettes provides an outlet for self-expression that extends beyond verbal communication. By carefully curating one’s personal style, individuals can showcase their inner selves, aspirations, and individuality. As a creative professional, I find immense joy in assisting others in discovering and refining their personal style, helping them present themselves authentically to the world.Enhancing Confidence:
In a society that often places immense importance on appearance, personal style can significantly impact an individual’s self-confidence. The right ensemble can uplift spirits, create a positive mindset, and empower individuals to conquer challenges with renewed vigor. As a fashion professional, I have witnessed firsthand how the perfect pop of color or a well-chosen accessory can transform a person’s entire outlook. By providing guidance, expertise, and a keen eye for detail, I am dedicated to helping others feel their best and radiate confidence through their personal style choices.
Empowering Women:
Women, in particular, face numerous societal pressures and expectations when it comes to appearance. Fashion and personal style can become powerful tools in dismantling these constraints and fostering self-empowerment. By assisting women in navigating the ever-evolving fashion landscape, I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where they can embrace their individuality and express themselves freely. Encouraging women to break free from stereotypes and embrace their uniqueness is a cornerstone of my artistic career. Witnessing the transformation and newfound confidence in my clients is an immensely rewarding experience that continually fuels my passion for the creative arts.

Choosing an artistic or creative career is often driven by an innate desire to express oneself and impact others positively. For me, a career in fashion and personal style is a perfect manifestation of these aspirations. By utilizing fashion as a means of self-expression and enhancing personal style, I am committed to providing a valuable service that allows individuals, especially women, to embrace their uniqueness, gain confidence, and make a statement in their own distinctive way. The ability to empower others through creativity is an incredibly fulfilling journey that I am grateful to embark upon every day.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is a woman’s trendsetting boutique that sells small batch clothing collections. The earth is always on our mind and we try and make eco conscious decisions. What sets us apart from others is the unique taste in fabrics, prints, and styles. I love mixing and matching different styles and time periods of dress to make a creative look. I like to be trendy but also have a little creative personal touch. I am proud of how far I have come, from learning how to use social media, to building a website, having contract workers, and living out my dream. Getting here today has been years in the making. I worked my way up in retail, then left the industry for a while managing national accounts for global security programs. That taught me a lot about how to run projects and businesses. Having the guts to pursue your dreams an entrepreneur is tough all in its self. There are so many peoples opinions that fly at your daily that you have to deflect. It is challenging every single day. I do not think there is a single entrepreneur building their businesses and keeping their business afloat is easy. Overcoming challenges to be honest just becomes apart of the daily task. You are constantly problem solving. The difference as time goes on is you get better at problem solving and planning for those mistakes as well. Your systems get better and you add new systems as well. Lessons learned are showing up every day is important. The brand will not grow with out you talking about it to everyone you see. Living and breathing the brand is the only way to get the steady organic growth. What I want people to know is that everyone is welcome in my brand, don’t be afraid to dress out side the box and try something new, and be confident in your creative decisions and what you chose to wear.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Los Angeles, there are so many places to go, but my favorite places would be the light house in Palos Verdes such a. peaceful area and view. Definitely we need to get some Handles Ice Cream in Redondo Beach on PCH. We definitely will be having a beach day in Hermosa Beach were they play beach volleyball, theres fun shops and eats on the pier and also on my small business friends are living their dreams in their shops. Also would definitely eat some really good Korean BBQ and hot pot. Torrance has a very Asian influence due to all the car manufacturing head quarters being in the area. We would probably either visit a laker, Kings, or Dodger game depending on the season. I would definitely take them to the 6th street bridge because that is one of my favorite views and experiences i have had in LA. We probably are going to be visiting Disneyland at least one day because there is so much hidden history there. If you have never had the tour experience I recommend splurging 1 time for the experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is so hard because there are so many people that have supported and mentored me and deserve recognition. I am going to go with the most current impact, my mentorship group leader Laurie. Laurie has been a great leader and providing a space for entrepreneurs, mostly mom entrepreneurs. She has been a proven success story that you can do it all as a woman.
