We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Grant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want people to remember me for what I believe God deems to be success – to be faithful, fruitful and to finish well. First, to be faithful means that I am in constant pursuit of becoming more like Jesus in the man, husband, father, pastor, coach and friend I am to those around me. I am being a great steward of the time, talents and resources I’ve been given and using them to honor God’s heartbeat. In terms of being fruitful, that’s all about cultivating Christ-like character in my life. The fruits of the Spirit include love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness gentleness and self-control. I want these to be found in greater abundance in and through my life the more I advance in life. Finally, to finish well is all about not giving up; to persevere; to keep moving forward no matter what life brings my way. I don’t want to quit – on my wife, on my kids, on my friends, on my employees, on my coworkers. I want to run the race to the very end, crossing the finish line, and then letting out a huge exhale!
What should our readers know about your business?
Rise City Church is a loving and life-giving church who brings hope and healing in Jesus’ name. We launched in October 2013, and the journey we’ve been on together thus far has been nothing short of miraculous. From seeing lives changed to partnering with community endeavors to being able to give millions of dollars away to help other people and organizations – it truly is a wonderful and selfless community of people. Rise City Church is located at 12150 Woodside Ave in Lakeside, CA and can be found online at RiseCity church.com.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Considering I’m originally from Illinois, the tour guide hit fits me because we have people who come visit out here pretty frequently. We always take people to the Gaslamp, followed by Coronado and then then a hike at Torrey Pines. As far as food, we love The Taco Stand in La Jolla (and honestly almost all the taco shops in SD!). We also love taking people to get a giant, pizza-box sized pancake from Hash House A-G0-Go!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give my first shoutout to the Lord Jesus Christ who rescued me and have blessed me with a life I really don’t believe I deserve. This leads me to my second shoutout to my wife, Jamie. I still wake up every day after 15 years of marriage pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. Her love, support, encouragement, sacrifice, patience and friendship mean the absolute world to me. And finally, I want to give a shoutout to Rise City Church. I am honored and humbled to pastor such a wonderful, generous, fun and passionate group of people!
