We had the good fortune of connecting with Brando James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brando, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
The thing that makes me most happy is creating. I have pretty bad OCD, so days that I’m not booked on set or making something I go crazy. That is rare lately, since if I’m not going into a production, I’m usually creating for my instagram @brandosuperstar. It’s a little hack that makes me feel like I’m always working. Because days off as an actor can be mentally daunting.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a working actor which isn’t hard to say. Whether booked on commercials, TV shows or internet content; I’ve expanded my workload to include at home content production for brands. It’s taken me about 7 years to get where I am today. Leading up to my time in Hollywood I pursed many other paths, including being a banking analyst, a travel blogger, a startup employee, a real estate entreprenuer and finally an actor/creator.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start by taking them to the California Science Center where you can see the Endeavor space shuttle and a spectacular rose garden. Then I would put them on back of my motorcycle and explore the Malibu Canyons and have lunch at Broadstreet Oyster Co (Lobster Rolls!) Dinner would be at Horses on Sunset for Burgers and Oysters and then party next door at Members. Late night could be at Chateau Marmot or the rooftop at Harriets. I’d taking them to the Sunday’s farmer’s market at Melrose Place for Yeastie Boys bagels and matcha’s at Alfreds. And then a cowboy pool party at Desert 5 from 2pm to sunset. Wake up hungover and burn it off hiking to the Hollywood sign via Beachwood Canyon. This is my routine on a good week in LA!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my success to Paulo Coehlo. He’s the author of the Alchemist which was the book I read while working in finance out of college. Without his words and wisdom, I still could be a corporate drone.
