Meet Asya Olson | Travel Blogger, Photographer and Software Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Asya Olson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asya, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important would be my dedication to my goals and ideas, and optimism goes right after. I am always sure that everything is possible if being persistent, and that’s actually true.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Right now I have two completely different careers and I am happy with both. I work 9-5 as a Software Engineer and 5-9 as a Travel Blogger 🙂
My dedication helps me a lot in both. I don’t consider myself a talented person but I believe that constant research and studying can improve anything and bring success. I always wanted to be an expert in what I do so I kept researching and analyzing and trying to improve… Until I realized that I already inspire people, that I already have enough knowledge and experience to lead other people and teach them. This is the best feeling to see that your efforts are paid off.
The biggest challenge for me I would say is to find time for all my ideas. Some days I may work till late night, and then finishing some other work on the phone from my bed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Okay let it be my favorite San Diego. For a week-long trip we would visit some popular places as long as hidden gems. On the first day let’s grab some coffee and breakfast at Better Buzz or Communal Coffee and head to Balboa Park for a day. For dinner we would go to Mister A’s to watch airplanes flying above the city. Another day I would show charming Pink Rose Cafe to my friend, and then would drive her around some city hidden gems. Caves, beautiful bridges, hidden swings – that would be enough more than for 1 day! Many of them are located at La Jolla, so we would spend there a day. Let’s go to a unique bar Raised by Wolves on one of the evenings! Some other day would be a drive to Carlsbad to see their charming flower fields. I would definitely invite my friend to a couple hikes, San Diego has some unique trails, even a slot canyon. And a beach day of course, we would go to Coronado for it 🙂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband is the most supportive person on the planet. Sometimes my ideas might look like they don’t make much sense but he would still support them because he wants to see me happy.
