Meet Ashley Pineiro

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Pineiro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is something I’ve come to see as both a challenge and an opportunity—a necessary ingredient in growth. It’s never easy, but it’s essential to creating a life I’m proud of. Taking risks has shaped my career, my creativity, and even the way I approach relationships.
Moving to California was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. Leaving the comfort of the East Coast, where I had built a life, friendships, and familiarity, for a completely new environment was terrifying. I left behind stability for uncertainty, but I knew deep down that I needed to step outside my comfort zone to grow—not just professionally but personally. The idea of starting over in a new city, with no guarantee of success, forced me to trust in my own resilience. That leap of leading life at the beat of my own drum brought incredible opportunities, like showcasing my designs at Miami Swim Week and hosting my own fashion show. I’ve learned that sometimes, when you don’t have all the answers, taking a chance on yourself is the most powerful thing you can do.
In love, the stakes feel even higher. Vulnerability itself feels like a risk. Opening your heart to someone, knowing that it could lead to rejection, heartbreak, or disappointment, is scary. But I’ve learned to let my heart lead, even when it feels uncertain. Trusting that the right connection is worth the risk has led to the most profound lessons about myself—how I love, what I need, and where I need to grow. Relationships aren’t guaranteed, but I’ve found beauty in the process of letting go of control and trusting the journey.
Ultimately, risk is about faith. Faith in myself, faith in the process, and faith in the idea that even if things don’t work out as planned, they’ll work out as they should. It’s about learning to embrace uncertainty as an ally instead of an enemy. Every risk I’ve taken has been a stepping stone, and while not all have paid off, each one has taught me something invaluable.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art and fashion are deeply personal and rooted in storytelling. I believe fashion is more than just clothing; it’s a form of self-expression, confidence, and identity. My brand, House of Ladera, focuses on sustainability, inclusivity, and individuality. Each piece is made-to-order by hand, emphasizing quality, craftsmanship, and a connection between the maker and the wearer. I want every person who wears my designs to feel empowered, authentic, and beautiful.
What sets me apart is my dedication to creating thoughtful, sustainable fashion that prioritizes creative freedom and expression. I use innovative techniques, like upcycling materials into wearable art, to make something meaningful and eco-conscious. My pieces often incorporate bold colors, unique textures, and a sense of playfulness while maintaining sophistication. Additionally, I aim to foster a positive community through my work—one where people can feel seen and celebrated.
One of my proudest moments was showcasing my brand at Miami Swim Week and hosting my own fashion shows, including my upcoming one in December. These experiences allowed me to connect with people who resonate with my vision. Collaborating with other creatives, like my latest collection with Sofia Gomez of Sstilo using recycled and upcycled fashion, has been incredibly rewarding. I’m also thrilled to keep pushing boundaries with my designs while staying true to my values.
The journey has been anything but easy! I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where I honed my skills and developed a strong foundation in design. After graduating, I worked full-time while building my brand on the side. Moving to California from the East Coast was a leap of faith, but it allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
Balancing a demanding full-time job with my business has been challenging, but my passion keeps me going. Late nights sewing bikinis, early mornings cutting fabric—it’s all part of the dream. I’ve learned to embrace the grind while finding moments to recharge creatively.
Challenges have been plentiful—managing time, facing self-doubt, and learning the ropes of running a small business. I’ve also navigated the emotional side of entrepreneurship, like dealing with setbacks and learning to trust the process.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to stay adaptable and resilient. Opportunities don’t always come in a straight line, and I’ve had to pivot many times. I’ve also learned the importance of self-belief and surrounding myself with people who uplift and inspire me.
House of Ladera is more than just a fashion brand; it’s a movement celebrating confidence, authenticity, and sustainability. The name is a homage to my grandmother, who will turn 100 in March, as well as all the powerful women in my lineage who came before me. Their strength, resilience, and love inspire me every day, and through my work, I honor their legacy.
Every piece is a labor of love, and I’m deeply invested in creating something that matters—not just in fashion, but in how we connect with ourselves and others. My goal is to leave an impactful and loving imprint in this world, fostering a sense of community and empowerment through my designs.
I want my story to inspire others to pursue their passions, embrace their uniqueness, and never give up, no matter how tough the journey gets. At its core, my work is about creating a better, more beautiful world—one stitch, one connection, and one story at a time.
