Meet Ashley Howie | Real Estate Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Howie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
My persistent nature helps when it comes to working with and following up with clients. Whenever someone calls or texts me, I either am always avaliable for them, or respond within 5 to 10 minutes. Working with many agents, one big pet pevee is not being able to get ahold of an agent on a property my buyer is interested in.
My other habit is that I only compete with myself. I constantly push myself to be a better version of who I am and my success. I admire my competitors and love to learn from them, but I do not compete with them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being young in the field, I had to be creative to gain the trust of homeowners and buyers. I developed my business model using my tech savvy nature, and decided to offer homeowners a discount on commission when they listed/sold with me. It was a way I could stand out, and I quickly found there was a demand. I went from doing 6 my first year, to 16 homes sold my second year, and now 10+ years later I’ve sold over 250+ homes and counting. I’ve sold homes from LA to Temecula, out to Indio and all the way up to Buellton. With my strategy, my homeowners can work with me virtually to get their home listed, marketing and sold for less commission than other agents. While of course, still getting full market value for their home.
With this business model and selling so many homes, it has allowed me the experience that many agents that have been in this industry longer have had, but in a shorter amount of time. I’ve had just about every situation you can think of, including negotiating the family dog into the transaction!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It would depend on the season of course. The Southern Orange County area has great outdoor opportunities whether it’s shopping, hiking, exploring or eating at fantastic restaurants during the summer when the deserts are hot. When it’s winter, I’d totally recommend the Palm Springs area for those who love exploring different dining experiences, like great shopping and hotels with fun amenities like lazy rivers.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother has been my rock from Day 1. She always encouraged me to follow a dream or a goal. She’s been there from the beginning, helping me with marketing designs, to putting up open house signs. In 2017, I pushed her to follow her dream and get her real estate license as well. She’s able to work with clients when I’m busy, and I’m able to help her succeed too. It’s been a dream getting her involved after all her support throughout the years.
I also want to say thank you to Homequest Real Estate. I started in 2013 in the office and by the end of that year, the owner had sat me down and told me I had a knack for the industry, that I should get my license. I’ve been with them ever since! 12+ years and counting.
