Meet Anni

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anni and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anni, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always been creative and in the arts so it was a slow progression from being an artist to realizing I had this idea for a company that I wanted to bring to life. They did go hand in hand which was helpful in starting ‘Saturdays at Seven’. As a songwriter, I wanted a place to perform without the ‘pay to play’ rules. I felt there wasn’t a space for artists to just come together and network and share music. So I created ‘Saturdays at Seven’ in my backyard. I had a strong pull to foster community as well as I feel thats a big aspect of life and success in general. Organically it grew into what it is today and I am so happy I stuck with it and continued to build the business and brand. I always knew I wanted to work for myself. Both my parents have and it was engrained in me to be an entrepreneur and build something of my own.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been a multitude of projects and creative endeavors. I love music and the industry and have created a company called ‘Saturdays at Seven’ where we do pop up concerts all around Los Angeles and soon New York and Nashville as well. It’s a home for creatives in a way and a community to bring people together and network and share their art. I would say I am most proud of the growth we’ve had over the last few years, partnering with 20+ new venues and moving cities in the next few months.
Outside of Saturdays, I am a songwriter who writes for my own project ‘Anni’ as well as synch projects. I also published a poetry book last year called ‘Remedies’ and it has been an amazing creative outlet self publishing a book and seeing my poems come to life across pages.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have grown up in Los Angeles and there are so many great spots it’s so hard to choose.
I would say start the week in Venice since I have lived here for 7 years. I’d say go to my favorite restaurants – Great White for breakfast, Ggiata for lunch and end at Ospi for dinner (if you want to do a food tour haha). Abbot Kinney is a must to walk and if you go on Thursday, there is the best comedy show at Roosterfish called Abbot Kidding. I’d go to Gran Blanco or El Chucho for a drink and Saba Surf or Little Lunch for a coffee.
Malibu is another great spot to go for a day trip. Check out Point Dume and go to a concert at Dreamland (maybe Saturdays at Seven is playing ;)) I love walking Broad Beach and going to get a Lily’s Burrito.
Next stop would be Topanga. Fun fact, my poetry book is in a few stores up there. I love going to Topanga Living Cafe. It’s in the trees and such a beautiful spot to work or hang out from. I also love going to yoga up there at Ethereal Yoga.
I’d say I’d end the week going to a show – probably a Saturdays at Seven of course. We usually have shows all over the West Side. I’d end the night with a burger from Hinano’s and playing pool with some friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout the Saturdays at Seven team – Patrick, Peter, Rachel and everyone else who has helped along the way! To all the venues and brands that have agreed to partner with us, this community and business wouldn’t be possible without you guys.
