Meet Anne-Sophie MONFILS | French freelancer, traveler, and podcaster.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne-Sophie MONFILS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anne-Sophie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I have always taken risks since the beginning of my adult life. I moved hundreds of kilometers to have a better living environment, I quit six or seven permanent jobs to change work, move, or simply travel to the other side of the world. I said yes to risky professional opportunities in which I had no experience. I learned, I made mistakes, I bounced back—
It allowed me to take on jobs I was never meant for. It allowed me to meet inspiring people from all walks of life—from American CEOs to farmers in Argentina, and even artists in France. I elevated myself socially, and even today, taking risks is part of my daily life.
This way of living allows me to feel alive, always moving forward and evolving

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what really defines my journey is the fact that I DARE. I never really think about the consequences. I take things step by step, and there’s always time to turn back if needed. It makes everything much less scary.
For example, there are many young women who are afraid to travel alone. Stop overthinking—just buy a plane ticket. Once you’ve taken the first step, take things little by little.
Want to change jobs? Apply for that position without overthinking it! Go through the interview and see how it goes. If it doesn’t feel right or you change your mind, you can always say no.
Want to start a creative project but have no experience, no equipment, and are worried about what others will think? Those are just excuses. As Orelsan, a French rapper, said: ‘If you want to film, you just need something that films.’
JUST GO FOR IT—the world will keep turning, and the only thing you risk is achieving your dreams.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I moved to the USA, I met my best friend, LISA. I spent that whole year by her side, sharing both our biggest adventures and our toughest challenges. Later, we even traveled around the world together—a journey with almost no money, but full of unforgettable encounters and moments that will stay with us forever.
I’ve shared many of these experiences on my podcast Hublot ou Couloir, yet no one can truly grasp the bond we share.
For over ten years, she has supported me through all my slightly crazy projects and frequent life changes. Having someone around who not only supports you but also tells you, ‘Careful, you might mess this up,’ is invaluable.
