We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie & Ader and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angie & Ader, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor for us is to bring awareness to our listeners as well as share the lives and legacy of victims of true crime. We believe everyone is more than just the headline and should not be defined by the way in which their untimely death came about. We strive to put more than just the face to the name and humanize those affected beyond the “story”. We both love San Diego very much, but like anywhere in the world you can’t escape danger, we hope that these stories help save one person from ever being next and not knowing what to do or how to save themselves or others. We also pride ourselves on supporting small businesses in San Diego with our “SBS” Small Business Spotlight. Being involved in our community and exploring all of San Diego has to offer has given us the ability to build this platform. By supporting small businesses we show San Diegans’ hidden gems that make this city so beautiful beyond its skyline.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are so excited to share our podcast with the world and continue growing and expanding. We recently launched our YOUTUBE channel as another avenue to view our content. We never thought we would become podcasters ourselves, we would always listen to podcast, but the idea seemed far fetched. Overcoming the doubt and uncertainty was probably our biggest struggle. The amount of information and research it takes to get started can be overwhelming and the vulnerability of exposing yourself in the public eye can be daunting. The more encouragement we got from friends, family and loved ones made us take the plunge, and we can honestly say it was the best decision we ever made. We learned how to work together in a new capacity as well as let our our creative side with new segments, art work, ideas on how to present ourselves, it has all been very stressful and rewarding at the same time. Our biggest goal is to share our love of San Diego and True crime while spreading awareness of public safety and supporting Small Businesses. Small Business is the backbone of our city and supporting others dreams while building our own only seems fitting. We try to balance the difficulty of the reality of danger around us with some appropriate humor to make it easier to process, while still honoring the lives of those involved and remind people of the human behind the headline. We make an emphasis on not glorifying the perpetrator as the media sometimes tends to do. We hope to ultimately be able to create real change In San Diego by building a Non Profit for cold cases.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Best part of San Diego is EVERYTHING! Whether its the small park on 1st st in Coronado to take in the beautiful skyline or taking the ferry across to Sea Port village for a stroll and some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream while you watch a very talented man build a stack of rocks and defy the laws of gravity. Exploring downtown for its surplus of food options preferably a roof top bar and hearing the roars of PETCO park is a must. A picnic at Jst Marina chowing down on some empanadas from The Empanada Spot in Chula Vista topping it off with desserts from the yummy MMM…cakes on Third Ave Chula Vista. We could hop on the Coaster for a day trip to Oceanside where one can spend the afternoon enjoying cocktails at Frankies in downtown Oceanside and do a little retail therapy at Goblin Shark Emporium (coolest shop in town) they feature all local artist in one location you can literally find something for everyone and the staff is absolutely amazing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This podcast would not have been possible without the support of our family and friends and our listeners. Every download, share, comment keeps us going to be able to share these stories. We are a very hands on DIY kind of duo, and to have a village supporting us as we continue to grow and expand makes this all worthwhile. Thank you SAN DIEGO for tuning in. We were inspired by San Diego Cold Case unit along with major true crime cases that have happened in our own city and our ultimate goal is to be able to build a non profit to help solve more cold cases for our hometown.
