We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Collier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ANGEL, what do you attribute your success to?
I have always had a strong passion for makeup! I still love doing it after so many years! It’s my life’s greatest accomplishment! I have a few jobs that lasted for years. I was a Teller/Supervisor at a bank back home in Georgia & then here in San Diego at Bank of America. Then I was offered a considerable raise by becoming an wedding venue coordinator for a tent rental company in Georgia but while helping Brides, I just yearned to do their makeup instead. I worked part-time at the local mall at Estee Lauder and that’s when I knew. Some time later I decided to move back to San Diego to pursue becoming a Makeup Artist. I moved back in 2008 but couldn’t get hired on with MAC until 2011. Then the manager at that time, Jessica Salazar, at MAC Macy’s gave me a chance when no one else would. She’s the only one who took a chance on me and hired me to start as a Freelancer. It wasn’t even 6 months and I was offered a permanent full-time position. That changed the trajectory of my life!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most passionate about being able to transform my Clients into the best version of themselves through the power of makeup! I’ve been blessed with a gift!

What sets me apart from other Artists is that I truly care!

The first thing I ask when I’m hired: “What will you be wearing?” After their event, I check in to see how the makeup held up. I also send a thank you card after every single makeup application. I’ve been told, that’s why I’m hired over and over again.

The journey certainly wasn’t easy and I don’t ever take being chosen lightly. Most of my makeup Clients I’ve done over and over and it absolutely never gets old!

I’ve learned that everyone has choices and I’m so honored to be chosen.

I would love the world to know that I am forever grateful for each and everyone that has ever sat in my chair! Without each and every one of them; none of my success would have been possible.

My brand AngelfaceMUA was chosen because when you look at me; you see my greatest joy!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely go shopping at Fashion Valley mall then eat at Silverlake Ramen; my favorite! We’re definitely doing her makeup for our outings. When you have a gift; you gift it to the ones you love most!

We’d probably visit La Jolla Cove which is such a beautiful spot! I’d get a bite to eat at The Spot because they have the best Cajun lambchops!

We’d go swimming in our backyard! I absolutely love to swim!

We’d also find time to just hang out and watch movies!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my successful career to my Husband of 15 years, Kenneth Collier! He’s the reason why I was able to pursue my dream and he’s always encouraged & supported me. Also, Jessica Salazar, for being the only MAC manager who believed in me and didn’t think I was weird. Lots of others made fun of me and ridiculed Jessica for hiring me. She said I was the best employee she’s ever had. She appreciated my passion & hard work! That means the world to me! We’re still friends to this day!
