Meet Amalia Boyles

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amalia Boyles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amalia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Overtime my days were getting busy and chaotic. Everything changed when I started time blocking my calendar. It’s sort of a no-brainer but being a real estate agent in and out of the office, plus trying to fit in relationships, personal appointments, and hobbies – time blocking is essential to keep your day and week in order. I like to organize (i.e. color code) my calendar by high priority, medium priority, low priority, and personal. Overtime I have also developed a sense of what days are more likely to get extra busy with last minute requests (i.e. Fridays or right before deadlines), whereas my Mondays tend to be my favorite day to spend in the office planning my week and working on marketing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve held positions as personal assistant, exec assistant, property manager… all roles that have been very beneficial while structuring my business. The assistant roles shaped the basics, organization, time-blocking, following up, constant updates until the job is completed – the building blocks for a successful business and partnership with clients. The property management portion of my life gave me a deeper understanding of how a property functions (or needs to function) and lead me to developing a lot of great contacts that I have been able to pass on to my clients. I guide my clients through the entire process of buying and selling a home. My goal is to make one of the biggest life decisions as stress-free and smooth as possible. I want my clients to have every resource they could need at their finger tips. One of the reasons I love being an agent with Compass is that we have some amazing programs that help buyers and sellers – The first is “Private Exclusive” which allows clients to buy or sell with discretion and privacy; for buyers the advantage is seeing properties that aren’t advertised on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), for sellers the advantage is privacy or a pre-listing/MLS opportunity to sell which is helpful for sellers that are in the middle of upgrading their home. Which leads me into the second program “Compass Concierge” which helps front costs to paint, stage, landscape, remodel, etc. to get the most value out of a home. I love being able to offer both of these programs to my clients!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love hosting my friends, so I always have tons of options based on their mood or personality – the top 3 requests I get are: What’s the best beach, best seafood restaurant and best taco shop. We have a lot of all 3 but for the casual out of towner I take them to Sail Bay in Crown Point, El Pescador in La Jolla, and for tacos – this can be tricky. You have to align the friend’s personality with the right taco shop and if I went into detail this interview would turn into an essay on ‘Taco Shop Personalities’. And last but not least – my go to for everything (brunch, lunch, dinner, happy hour) Dunedin! I live just blocks away but you really can’t go wrong here on food and drinks, plus the staff is great!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have found that a lot of people & paths have shaped me into who I am today. My dad was my first mentor when it comes to my real estate path. He is primarily a commercial developer with a management company in the PNW, so I grew up with real estate around me. I probably knew what an easement and eminent domain by the time I was 10. When I made the switch from commercial to the residential side, I was very fortunate to have a sphere of people to support me – and right off that bat I had my first listing. Since then I have been very fortunate to be part of the Beal Group at Compass, both my team lead Jordan Beal, our brokerage, and my clients have really helped me evolve into the agent I am today.
