We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is staying true to what I find as beautiful-In return this keeps my passion alive for the love I have for fiber. I truly believe as an artist when that spark is lit it will show through each piece and success will follow.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Fiber Artist that specializes in home and event decor. Ama Fiber Art was born out of a hobby picked up after having my first child. I was in the creative industry for years prior but obtaining a new identity as a stay at home mother I felt the need to find a outlet that fulfilled my desire for creativity. Taking a self taught passion and clients allowing me to share it with the world has been my greatest accomplishment. Some lessons I’ve learned along the way is that its important to find balance, this is a customer service industry after all, but it will also always be my art. There’s so much love behind each piece and it can be vulnerable to put yourself out there, but finding that balance of staying true to keeping each piece yours while fulfilling a clients desires can be a challenge but is my number one priority.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever I would take them to a resort stay in Palm Springs. There we would lay out poolside, eat lots of pool menu nachos, you know the ones I am talking about- The ones that are so gross they’re amazing after a day of soaking up the sun and some cocktails. Then we would get dolled up go for a girls night of amazing foodie food and a night of dancing. Not sure if its being in a creative industry but I’ve always been drawn to the most unique, and odd people in the room, maybe because I am an oddball myself-I love others who get me thinking, laughing, and wondering whats next. I am a nature girl at heart, I love getting dirty, hiking, climbing, sleeping in tents under the stars, but I also love me a pampering resort stay.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A shoutout out to my kids and my husband for being so supportive and patient with me. My studio happens to be my little home, and separating family life from work isn’t always easy. When I do my husband is constantly lint brushing fiber off of his clean pants and shirt on his way out the door..but really with all jokes aside they are my support system and cheerleaders and I love them so much.
