We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysha Percy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alysha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
There was no such thing as a smooth road in Alysha’s journey. Alysha had to sacrifice a lot to get to where she is now. She sacrificed most of her childhood for dance instead of hanging out with friends. She had to leave her family, her dog, and the people she loved just to have a chance at pursuing her goals here in LA. It has been difficult, to say the least. She’s been turned down countless times, from auditions to people. She’s been told she would never make it in the dance industry, but despite all of that, she pushed through and made it all worth it.
Without the risk of Alysha moving to LA she wouldn’t have the success she has now.
Alyshas motto in life is “big risk, big reward”. So she new she wouldn’t of been able to reach the next step and goals in her career if she didnt move to Los Angeles but that meant leaving her usual life behind.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Alysha is one of Australia’s top hip-hop choreographers/dancers, who is recognized for her high-energy choreography and dancing around the world. She specializes in hip-hop choreography but loves to freestyle and work on her foundations as well.
Alyshas biggest thing that she s most proud of is choreographing and dancing for the iconic 50 CENT in his show for RNB Live Australia.
It was never easy for Alysha to get to where she is. She’s dedicated her whole life to dance from the little age of 2 years old.
She most definitely has times of doubt and lows in her career but the number one thing that helps her get through those difficult times is sitting with it, understanding it, and processing those feelings so she can move passed it. She also loves to take a step back from her career and show gratitude to what she’s already done to get inspiration to keep pushing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
TBH Alysha is still very fresh to LA and doesnt know too many places yet but her go to favourite places to go would be: Melrose trading post ( Sundays)
Urth Cafe Melrose
Eaton Canyon Falls
Glendale Galleria
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The people that deserve the most credit for my career is my mum Shvawn Percy, Teri Knapp “American Mother” I like to call her. And to all my supporters and teachers throughout my life and journey in life.
