Meet Alton Olson | DJ Altimate, Master of Ceremonies

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alton Olson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alton, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m originally from Northeast Wisconsin, but I spent a good few years outside of the great state of Wisconsin during some college, and a tour of duty with the United States Army. Having had the opportunity to branch out while meeting and working with people from all different walks of life really taught me a lot. I’m able to apply those life lessons through music and my creative process when working with couples from all over the country, and sometimes even internationally, on creating their unique, once-in-a-lifetime events.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I got into DJing more seriously, I was inspired by a DJ named, “DJ Braindead” who is based out of Israel. I saw how he was able to do such amazing, creative things with his DJ controller, and recognized that this controller was a musical instrument. Me, being a musician my whole life, instantly knew that more was possible to being a DJ than simply playing music and having a big library. I set out to learn the craft and artistry of being a skilled DJ, and, to my advantage, I noticed that only one other DJ in Northeast Wisconsin was doing this! I was able to successfully work up to this level, and expand the niche for high-end DJs here. It took a lot of hard work, along with going out of state to learn advanced techniques in the skills of being a Master of Ceremonies, as well as challenging myself as a DJ so I could compete for certain honors. All of this has paid off in the sense that we’re able to create events that are truly special for our clients. For several years, and to this day, we are proud to say that we offer the highest quality experience musically, professionally, and through the spoken word for our performances in Northeast Wisconsin. We claim many firsts for DJs in this area, and we have many exclusive achievements as well! It’s also such an honor to have been recognized and accepted into the greater national DJ community.
What I want the world to know about our brand is that we’re all about love. We love what we do, we love giving our clients the very best service, we love creating unique & creative experiences, and we love our community. We not only take opportunities to constantly be better than we were yesterday, but we also take opportunities to give back as much as we can.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I think the best places in Green Bay are some of the things out-of-towners haven’t heard of. First, we’d grab breakfast at The Creamery Downtown right on the Fox River. Outside the door I’d invite my guest to go on a walk down the Fox River Trail, stop for frozen custard at Zesty’s, then head back to downtown Green Bay where lunch would be had with gourmet street tacos at “Vintage Cantina”.
After that head to the Reforestation Center over by the NEW Zoo to ride single track mountain bike trails. Then head to the Shiocton Shooting Range to do some long-distance target shooting.
For dinner I’d recommend “Chives” or “Hinterland”, then walk the Titletown District near Lambeau Field.
It sounds like I need to take my wife on a day date now . . .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people I have to thank for my success. The biggest shoutout goes to my wife Tara. She takes up the slack in our day-to-day life when I’m working on this business. An equally big shoutout goes to my son Atticus. He was the inspiration for me to take this business full-time. After that it would be the fine people we have at SoundFire DJ (Tyler, Shawn, Alyssa, Brad, Heather, Kristy), my very good friend Shaun, Rebecca & Mark Farrell, Midwest DJs Live, several members of the DJ community, my local community, my clients, and my fellow wedding pros!
