We had the good fortune of connecting with Alondra Bustos Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alondra, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of my favorite affirmations is, “Don’t let anyone dim your light”. This specific affirmation steamed from having a hard and uncomfortable conversation with someone really close and fond to me. It wasn’t even them saying that exact phrase, but a reminder that even though that person is so important to me, that i shouldn’t let them dim my light because of certain reactions, responses or interactions they had towards me or with me. Especially if i was simply being my best self as well as they were being themselves! From that day on after having that conversation, this affirmation stuck with me and became a imprint on a lot of things surrounding my brand.
I love that this affirmation reminds me of how bright i can really be in any scenario, as long as i focus on doing just that! It also helps remind me that nobody can sway me from being my most authentic self.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of the relatableness that my books are able to bring people when they pick them up. As well as, the special aspects of my books that bring children a deeper comprehensive approach to reading one of my books. Not only in regards to a different language but also the activities that i incorporate in my books. I am most excited to continue to spread awareness for the ESL community. My journey professionally was quite up and down, the ups being very meaningful and useful at the end. The downs being lessons that were hard to get through as i lost an opportunity due to covid that allowed me to create meaningful relationships. However i gained knowledge on my specialty as a preschool coach, which taught about me a new passion. The ups helped me realize what i really deserved and needed in order to fully use my full potential as an educator. Overcoming the challenges, meant that i needed to accept the downfalls and find something that would help me shine again. This meant that i would start small and build a brand where preschool teachers felt supported and seen as the early childhood education is the most vital time in a child’s education journey.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people in my life that have had such a great impact on my decisions and path. For starters, my husband has been such a great support and motivator to get it started, keep going and getting things done! From the days of me being in college and long nights of studying to being an inspiration towards creating something of my own. Along with many great books such as; “Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi which really teaches you about finding a passion. And not the kind where it feels like work, but the kind that you simply get lost in for hours. An experience that once you are in it you just know that it is where you are truly happy and free. As well as “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, a life changing book! It is absolutely amazing, every word in this book gets you thinking about your daily life and your routines. It’s inspiring and easy to put in practice right away.
