Meet Alexis Conerty | Florist/Floral Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Conerty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process started before I even knew that I wanted to own my own business. I Worked for a grocery company for about 14 Years. It was my first job. I Started From the Bottom bagging groceries and pushing carts then worked my way up until I became a store manager. I managed Not only 100 people in the building, but thousands of customers as well. I started my own Family during my career or what I thought was my career. I have three beautiful boys during my time there and I was still putting everything I had into my job as well as my family, and I was stretching myself extremely thin. I then lost my job that I worked so hard for. I exceeded my own expectations for that job and of course I’m extremely thankful for everything that they’ve done for me and for my family. during the time that I was with that company, I always had a thought in the back of my head that I could do more. I could do something on my own. There has something out there for me. I know there is something I can do that I would love and enjoy while still providing being able to provide my time for my family. Don’t get my wrong I loved my job and the customer service of it and Being able to help people enjoy Certain aspects. So really the day I was no longer with That company it took some time for me to realize what I really wanted to do, what I use my skills for as well as my creativity and my intent behind the things that do which is putting care and love and attention to everything I do. I finally realized that some thing I always loved in the time that I had with that company was the Florals. I enjoyed every aspect of flowers and being creative being able to do something that somebody would enjoy whether they’re having a great day or bad day or something that would uplift them. And my mindset of a store manager at the time was to never say no to a customer. there’s always something we could do and not everybody saw that when it came to floral. I’ve been in situations before where I wanted to create some thing with flowers in an arrangement and I was told no I can’t do that or that’s not possible or you’ll have to go somewhere else for that. So it’s a part of me that when I create something for someone else, I will do everything that I can possibly do with what I have or what I can find and I think that’s what it really makes me different as well. I started Alexi floral During a time that I needed it the most. And not because of the financial aspect of it, even though it was part of it but more because I needed it for myself. I created Alexi Floral to show people that yes, you can get flowers from the grocery store or made by somebody that you’re familiar with but coming to Alexi Floral You’ll be able to know that you’re getting something handcrafted with Love, care and Attention that you would want in something that you’re gifting to somebody else. So I provide service you cannot find at a grocery store.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Alexi floral creates beautiful and simple elegant floral arrangements from a gift bouquets to event arrangements. Creating a wonderful beautiful experience between others. I’m most proud of being able to have my small business start from just simple gifts I would give on my own to something so much bigger. I’m excited to say that this is just the beginning of a small dream I once had. There was always challenges and difficult days I won’t lie. There were days were I didn’t really know if this was the right choice or i doubted myself but all I can say as a small business owner is that nothing is to small. If you put your everything into something and believe in what you love and enjoy things will come together in time. Some things just take time and a lot of dedication. I’m a bit of a believer of that one quote that says”what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” and I still believe it. I wouldn’t be here today to tell my story without the difficult days. I want the world to know that Alexi Floral is one of a kind because of the emotional impact of what I am able to create in such a small or large package!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to literally anything in the San Diego area! Mission bay for a bonfire in the sand overlooking the water. BBQ at home or by the pool with a few drinks and good music would probably be the best thing I would enjoy. Being able to spend quality time with friends and family is what I would enjoy most

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would shoutout my entire family. From my mom to my brother to my uncles and aunt. My three beautiful boys and of course my partner in crime haha
He’s the father of our children and the reason I am able to do what I do now.
