We had the good fortune of connecting with Akeia Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akeia, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The vilotiality. Some months, quarters, or even years your experiencing the extreme high of success and then boom its a drought. It takes continuous hustle, grind and a drop of humble to be an entrepreneur in any space. Taking your foot off of the gas is never an option.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started in the mortgage industry over 20years ago. After I ended my enlistment in the US Navy, I applied for a receptionist position within a large Mortgage Broker in La Jolla, Ca. This is when the market was booming (pre-2008.) I learned fast and knew mortgage lending was the career path I wanted to take. Over the next 15years I was a mortgage loan processor and underwriter for many Banks, Mortgage Lenders and Brokers. In 2019 I decided to take the leap and become licensed to originate mortgage loans. Its been quite the ride ever since.

I like to consider myself to be an intro-extrovert. When my extrovert meter runs out. Its a wrap, I want to go hooooome! haha.
My knowledge base when it comes to mortgage loans, and selling guidelines is extensive, BUT my ability to create and nurture relationships to leverage business opportunities does not come easy. This was my learning curve. And to be honest, a day to day challenge.

My brand is me. Akeia. I am intelligent, I am knowledgeable. I am flawed. But I will take care of you and educate you on what can be a very overwhelming process for many. Homeownership is the fabric of our communities. It is slowly becoming a commodity in many markets, and I want us to get in where we fit in!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a foodie. I will travel for food. Tacos and Margarita me, please. Very simple. No frills.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is for everyone and anyone who is rode my wave of success with me. I have been blessed with a few super supportive friends and referral partners who have all, at some point, help keep me focused. Having worked alongside some of the most accredited and recognized sales team and managers have definitely help mold me into the professional I am today.
