We had the good fortune of connecting with Abraham Jiménez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abraham, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I think that it has been really organic how my daughter, aged 7, has got a clear idea of what she is going to become in the future. she says she is an artist and she is going to be a painter, a sculpture and a poet.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think that my creative process comes from early childhood since I have been involved in the art world since I was a child, being the son of a painter who devoted most of his life to teaching. My father`s interest in taking me to museums, the circus, the theater, the world of imagination payed off, creating in me a world of wonder that nourishes my work up to date. Oposed to what one might think, my father never wanted me to follow in his footsteps since he thought the world of art was a very difficult one. Also, being successful in the world of art can be misleading since many artist loose their way in the limelight, but when you are sure of who you are and what you want, you are prepared to overcome what may come, like for instance covid.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Mexico City has a lot to offer in terms of culture, heritage and entertainment. I think that we could dedicate some days to touring the many things that downtown Mexico City has to offer. The Palace of the fine arts, the National Palace, The Templo Mayor Archeological site, The many catholic temples there are downtown, including the Metropoñlitan Cathedral The many world class museums like Museum of Antropology and the Museums of Contemporary Art. We could also visit some of the many world class restaurants Mexico City has to offer, and to top everything, we could take him to Xochimilco which accounts to a unicque experience as you tour the canals in a floating restaurant boat, where you can enjoy mezcal and pulque to the beat of the Mariachi. .
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
i want to dediacate my shoutout to my family; my wife and kids who are my everything, as well as to those who have been loyal in following my path, because an artist depends on everyone on his network.
