We had the good fortune of connecting with aaron adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi aaron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Im just not a 9 to 5 type of person. Hahaha. And I also don’t value money as much as most people. I don’t need much to be happy so I don’t feel the need to conform to the standard that success is measured buy how much money you have or the things you own. Because of that i just fell into starting and relying on my art to make ends meet.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The only thing that may set me apart from other artists is that I mainly draw straight out of my head. I don’t trace . I usually start with an eye and go from there. It keeps things fresh and leaves exspectation at a minimum. Im definitely not where I want to be financially or by means of succsess. But I just keep grinding forward in hopes that eventually ill find the art seen that values my vision.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hands down ocean beach California. Specifically the HARP in OB. I may be biased because I have painted that whole place including 7 small murals. Besides the amazing bartenders and food. Its my home away from home. But when friends are in town we go all over ocean beach and always either end up on the pier or late night on the cliffs enjoying the best backyard in the country
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
JUXTAPOZ magazine 14 years ago I left a small town in Pennsylvania jumped in a van with a couple friends and moved to San Francisco. In hopes to be seen and possibly featured in JUXTAPOZ magazine. Unfortunately San Francisco was not my seen. Luckily I had a friend in ocean beach California so I moved there. And since then my artwork has been accepted and just kind of found my home
