Meet Jenna Miller | Yoga Teacher + Nutritionist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Becoming a business owner was a side effect more than a goal I held in mind. I knew I had skills and important information that could help people. I wasn’t able to find another avenue to get that information into the world, so I made my own way. Building my career as a yoga teacher was an important part of my growth, teaching me how to nurture connections and promote myself. But I didn’t fully step into the business owner role until I decided to combine yoga with nutritional therapy, out of a need to make a bigger impact and to express myself more creatively.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Yoga was the vehicle that got me started in the holistic healing world. But for me personally, nutrition was the key to finally resolving some big health challenges that had left me feeling perpetually exhausted, depressed and overwhelmed. Coupling the body awareness and breathing skills I learned from yoga with nutritional therapy helped me find a new level of energy, clarity and resilience that I didn’t know was possible.
Now I help other women draw the same connections and learn how to nourish themselves- not just with food, but to deeply care for themselves, making their health and well-being a priority.
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned after working in a healing capacity for 15 years, it’s that each of us are unique. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. It’s intuitive work and requires spaciousness to let the process unfold. Much the same as building a business, you can try to follow the plan that worked for someone else, but the real magic begins when you make a deeper connection to your inner knowing and begin to trust yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best part about living in San Diego is the ability to get outside year-round. The San Diego Botanic Garden is a hidden gem that more people should know about! It’s easily accessible for all ages and they offer a variety of experiences including Saturday morning yoga, guided walks and art classes.
While you’re up in North County, the Windmill Food Hall in Carlsbad is a great stop for lunch or dinner. With loads of vendors, even the pickiest eaters will find something they love here. Plus, the Windmill is a little smaller than similar venues (read: not overwhelming), which makes it easier to navigate and enjoy with out-of-town visitors.
For a truly unique San Diegan experience, catch a sound healing show with Multiver3e at the Fleet Science Center planetarium.
And no trip to the area is complete without a beach stop, so make time for a hike at the Glider Port. The cliffs are stunning and the overlook makes the perfect backdrop for a picnic lunch or sunset viewing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I started writing a monthly newsletter in 2018 and a handful of my yoga students signed up. I was convinced that nobody cared about what I had to say, especially when I tiptoed into other wellness topics. Over the years, I received so much positive feedback from those original subscribers that I was encouraged to keep going, to grow and evolve. Without their replies and comments, I would’ve given up. Thank you to all the readers who let me into their inboxes and their lives- so much appreciation!
