Meet Jesus Gonzalez | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesus Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jesus, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Being alive makes me happy! Why? Because it’s an undeniable mystery. We have all managed to live so casually amidst the miraculous. There’s nothing casual about existence and that is what drives me to create what ever it is I am creating, the thrill of living in a timeless, shapeless, centerless and infinite universe while learning how to fall in love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The music that comes through me is usually focused on the romantic relationship we have with life, nature, people and ourselves. How our essential self meets itself again and again forever and ever at every moment is what brings my music to life. I am currently excited about an album I’m working on that I hope to release somewhere in the midst of Spring. It’s a concept album whose theme centers around the idea of Heaven meeting Earth. It’s difficult to explain but the album I hope, will speak for itself.
I got to where I am today by starting at many of the local open mics, getting my first performances and then eventually curating and building my own special performances. It wasn’t always easy, it can be a long and challenging process to make a living as a musician in a world that makes you feel like being a musician isn’t enough. It’s absolutely more than enough, music saves us all.
I’ve learned that your heart wants to be heard, felt and most importantly followed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You can’t go wrong with Balboa park. The museums, the hikes, the archery range, the plant life, architecture, the Marston house, the organ pavilion and Panama 66? It’s golden.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
