Meet Tyler Whitmarsh | CEO/Founder/Beekeeper

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Whitmarsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, how does your business help the community?
We’re a family of beekeepers tending to our honeybees for over 4 generations. We travel with our bees on semi-trucks from farm to farm pollinating our nations agricultural. Working directly with the farmers, this provides our bees the best organic fields/groves, giving them an abundance of nectar and pollen. Throughout the generations, we’ve pollinated fields throughout CA, CO, WA, MO, ND, and SD providing pollination for a variety of different fruits and vegetables. Our family strives to provide you all with the highest quality raw honey and beeswax in nature. With every purchase, 1/3 goes directly back to the bees. #savethebees

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It all started over 6 years ago waking up to the sunrise over the Sierra Nevada mountain range. I was at one of my family’s bee farms in central California. Early morning with my mother, we headed out to the orange groves to tend to our honeybees. Instantly, I felt drawn to the bees like this instinctive feeling of I belonged there. From that day on, I left my insurance job, and became involved with my family’s apiary. I then founded my own companies, The Honeybee Family LLC, and Healing Honeybees LLC. I retail and wholesale our families raw honey and beeswax while also infusing our raw honey with Premium CBD. What sets us apart from the other beekeepers and other honey, is the Rare Raw Honey flavors that we harvest. I Guarantee you’ve never tried a raw honey like this before! We never heat, treat, or mix our raw honey in any way. You’re tasting the actual nectar from the flowers that those honeybees visited just how nature intended. This is just the beginning of the journey for me, and I plan to carry on the family’s honeybee legacy. It’s not easy with the decline of bees, pesticides, and other cheap fake honeys, but we believe in the organic process from farm to table. Quality over Quantity every time! You can truly taste the passion for our honeybees, and the love in each drop of honey. I am learning that nature has no time limit and doesn’t care about what you have planned. Key is to adapt and flow with the wind instead of against it. The Honeybee Family will always bee here for you and thank you all for supporting our apiary!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Favorite spots in the city when not with the bees, would be in La Jolla, specifically surfing at Windansea. Coronado Island is where I live now, so cruising around the town by bike is a must. For a nature getaway, I would head towards Julian or a walk on the cliffs by Del Mar heading towards Torrey Pines.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Credit goes to my Mother Terri who introduced me to the entire beekeeping experience along with my Grandfather. Followed by the rest of her side of my family who welcomed me to bee apart of the apiary. Wouldn’t bee here without them all.
