We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodizza Baytan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rodizza, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
RenewedbyRodizza has been something I’ve dreamed of since I was younger because I’ve always been obsessed with everything beauty and skincare. I’ve always loved the idea of feeling comfortable and confident in your own skin. After graduating college with a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations, I decided it was finally time to follow my true passion and get my esthetician license, so now I’m currently an esthetician student building my branding and starting my dream of being my own boss. I came up with the name RenewedbyRodizza because my main goal is to accomplish a sense of renewal with every client I have. I want them to feel renewed when they walk out and feel amazing in their own skin. I’d love for everyone to feel renewed, refreshed and relaxed after they walk out the door.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I absolutely love making content for my social media pages. I’ve learned all about marketing, advertising and social media content creation in college, so using those skills for my own businesses is exciting. Before I started RenewedbyRodizza, I started my first small business during quarantine. I sold organic lip oils, lip scrubs, lip balms and hair oils. Despite having so much success with that business, I decided I wanted to focus more on school as it was my last semester in college. After college, I started a second small business where I make chocolate covered strawberries, cake pops and breakable hearts. I still maintain that one as it’s my favorite way to be artistic and creative in how the desserts turn out. With having those two small businesses prior to creating RenewedbyRodizza, I already knew how certain things should be marketed or advertised. With my esthetician account, I decided to make it completely unique and different from my previous two businesses. I follow a pattern, color scheme, and schedule for posting. I’ve learned how important it is to not only make your branding stick out but to have a message. When people look at my esthetics instagram page, I want them to be drawn in and have a desire to be pampered and refreshed.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A family fun favorite is definitely to visit the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park or SeaWorld. Walking around the parks and seeing the animals is always exciting. For tasty meals, I’d recommend Javier’s at UTC in La Jolla for their amazing and delicious mexican food or Ding Tai Fung for dumplings and sautéed green beans with garlic (they’re the best). I’m also a sucker for boba drinks. A few of my favorites are Kung Fu Tea, Boba Time, and Snoice! They all have amazing drinks and desserts and are all unique with their flavors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The core of my success definitely comes from the motivation and support I receive from my family and loved ones. My mom, Rizza Baytan, was very supportive when I first told her the idea of me quitting my full time job and going back to school to be an Esthetician. I was very hesitant on starting since I just graduated with my degree and had a steady income. However, she was very excited and gave me the advice to follow what I love, and that’s what I did. My dad, Rod Baytan was also very supportive when I told him what I wanted to do and any business ideas I had. My siblings: Junelar, Rizzy and Rico have always supported any decision I have made and constantly show me love by coming to my school and letting me practice facials on them. They always uplift me in any way possible and push me to be the best version of myself. My boyfriend, Anthony Sta Ines has also been very supportive and has been there through every up and down that I’ve had during the process of starting over and pursuing a new career. He gives me constant encouragement and makes sure to always cheer me on. My best friends, Andrew Graham and Kayla Narciso are always there to push me to doing what I love. My cousins, Kimberly Kabiling, Kevin Garner and April Bobadilla always inspire me to have faith and follow my dreams. I’m so blessed to have so many people that support and inspire me!
