We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. April Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. April, how did you come up with the idea for your business?

While I was in school I remember having to travel all around town to get all my wellness services and thought “wouldn’t it be nice to have one stop shop for all my health needs” I envisioned a spa concept that offered all the services I love like chiropractic, massage, yoga, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, skincare, nutrition, Ayurveda, paddleboard yoga, yoga teacher trainings, workshops and community events like Well+Fest we have coming up in January. I also love how Wellness Lounge is a unique center and with a great team of passionate talented holistic doctors and therapists to collaborate with and co-manage patients for the best results and helping people from all walks of life get and stay well.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Wellness Lounge I always call my field of dreams like the movie because I built it and the people immediately started coming. I think people were ready for a chiropractor that loves to take their time and do massage, cupping, stretches and cares about creating a healing experience with every session. I also think people also love that we have other amazing services like acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, yoga therapy, physical therapy, paddleboard yoga, and our awesome community events like Well+Fest. People want to keep coming back for more because of our incredible staff and the healing services we offer. We have 3 wonderful locations and are continuing to grow and thrive because the world needs to have a place to heal , and each person deserves to have a wellness team that truly cares about them and is passionate about helping and offering excellent services and that is us at the Wellness Lounge.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I definitely would take them the Wellness Lounge Mission Bay, our location on the water where we have our company boats and paddleboards. I would go to Aquarius Bar and Grill, we love their live music food and good vibes. They would probably stay at the Hyatt Mission Bay as that is my favorite local hotel and also where our day spa is. And if they are in town January 21 they should come check out Well+Fest, our yoga music and arts festival!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I really would love to thank my mentors Sue Brown and Eric Rubin who helped me in chiropractic school make me the creative chiropractor I am today and all their amazing seminars and workshops.
