We had the good fortune of connecting with Brendan Dimitro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brendan, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is getting to see the world and explore what makes different parts of this planet unique. I love to make photo and video content during my travels which is a great creative outlet for me. I also really enjoy jobs that require a bit of creative problem-solving and can be done on my own time. I worked in the corporate world for only a short amount of time before getting burned out and wondering what else there is outside of the box. Since then I have found happiness in the small things, meeting new people, exploring new cultures, and living how I want to live.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I spent a long time building up my skills as a photographer. Many mornings were spent on the frozen banks of Lake Michigan in Chicago trying to get the perfect sunrise shots. Since then, I have moved on to short video content which feels more rewarding to me as it really captures the memories in a more complete way for me. My professional life has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, all of which have been great learning experiences. The lessons that I’ve learned along this ride have been to never be afraid of change and be open to all types of challenges. Some of the best experiences and opportunities in my life have come from some of the most intense changes. All I want to do is share my stories with the world and inspire other people to leave their comfort zones.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For San Diego I would definitely start out by taking them to get a California burrito or some fish tacos you really can’t go wrong with either. Then I take them to some of my favorite photography spots which include Sunset Cliffs, Blacks Beach Gliderport, Coronado island. Then we’d probably hang around Mission Beach, which is one of my favorite spots, and just soak up all the awesome California vibes. With a place like Southern California you really can’t go wrong.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this Shoutout to my family who have always been supportive, loving, and all-around the best I could have ever asked for. I truly love them more than life itself. I also would like to dedicate this to everyone who is struggling to find their path. Even though I have accomplished a lot in life so far, I still have a long way to go and am still finding my own path. In my experience, you can learn from anyone who comes into your life, good and bad.
