They say life isn’t about the things that happen to you, but about the decisions you make. There’s a ton of coverage about the best decisions people have made, but not nearly enough conversation about the tough decisions. We asked folks we admire to tell us about the most difficult decision they’ve ever had to make and have shared some of those responses below.

I started working in the music industry as a Dj and producer, and it was more of a hobby than a job. A hobby that was actually taking up all of my free time. So, at some point I thought “what if music was my only job?” And I started talking about it with friends and no one was really convinced that someone residing in my country could make a living out of it. Everyone, myself included back then, believed that Djing and producing is something you do for fun and that people needed “real” jobs in order to make money, start a family etc. And the truth is that when you have a well-paid “real” job, it’s quite a risk to let it go. The most difficult decision I have ever had to make was whether I wanted to have my career dominant in stagnant behavior/ideals or in growth. This decision may seem easier to make than for it to be difficult but we forget just how comfortable you can get in a position where it doesn’t allow you to challenge yourself or navigate upwards in life.
