We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriela Peña and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The process was, and I guess still is, a process of self-discovery and trying to find out how we (my partner and I) wanted to live our lives. Like any other creative process, it’s been a series of trial and error trying to find a work method that tailors to our home life and also brings added value to our clients. We decided to start our office (Studio NA) to focus on communicating strong visual projects that connect our client’s brands with their target market.

What should our readers know about your business?
My husband and I run Studio NA, we help entrepreneurs create unique and profitable businesses through specialized interior design. The road to building the office into what it is now, an architecture studio focused on offering remote interior design solutions internationally, has been tricky and we’ve been at it for about 7 years now. We’ve had to pivot and evolve various times throughout the life of the office so we could keep adapting and growing our services to cater not only to our client’s needs but to our own personal needs as well. One of the toughest lessons we’ve had to learn is trying to find a balance between work and home life, and also trying to separate those two in everyday life, I guess we’re still learning.

What I’d love people to know about our brand is that we’re passionate about understanding our client’s needs and helping them build a business around their vision and mission.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First off, breakfast, I’d definitely start off my day at Café Cortado or at Fitzroy Espresso Bar, good coffee is an absolute must for me. After that, I’d see what’s showing at the various independent art galleries that have been popping around everywhere in the city. A trip downtown to the local markets is a must and I’d definitely stop for lunch at “De La O” or at Habanero Negro. We can then connect with drinks at Vietnam or Gallo Altanero for a roof top experience!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The person that most deserves a shout-out is my husband and business partner, Ian. Studio NA would not exist without his dedication, his talent and his patience.
