We had the good fortune of connecting with Levi Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Levi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel like following your dreams is a big risk. But it’s one you have to take. I changed my whole life to follow my dream of playing music. I had to sacrifice everything and literally leave an entire life behind. But I think a dream like that chooses you. You don’t choose it. In a way you have no choice but to follow. I think if you didnt you would just live in misery. Who wants that?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Singer/Songwriter from the central valley of California. I started out playing folk and grunge in the late 90s doing the local bar scene in Fresno Ca. If you’re wondering. That’s not a quick path to success. However I was able to hone my stage performances and songwriting playing at open mics and in several bands that have mercifully disappeared. But it was all an important part of the journey.

I had always had a reggae influence and in 2014 I decided to leave my career as a paramedic and pursue music full-time. I’m a big believer in listening to the Universe and I had a clear path that took me to San Diego and I started working on new reggae inspired music. I met my now Drummer “Raustin” (reggae Austin) and we formed a band called “Tent City Christ”.

Right when covid hit I moved to Oregon and weathered the storm working and living on a farm.

I went through a lot growth and learning during this time and it gave me time to write and kind of push my boundaries as a songwriter and vocalist. After Covid I came back to San Diego and regrouped, reimagined, and set our intentions on making the best music we could.

We changed the band name to The Levi Tucker band and linked up with our now producer Wiley Miranda. Over the last year we’ve been working on 7 new singles that we will be releasing. Yesterday our first single “Shelter” dropped on all platforms and we are excited and energized .

I’m back in the studio now working on the next releases. None of this would be possible without the people who believe in us and our music. So I feel blessed and thankful that I have found a great tribe here in San Diego.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I draw a lot of energy and inspiration from the Ocean. I typically can be found in the water. I love the cove in La jolla and snorkel and dive there often. I also love the pier in Oceanside. OB and PB are a great for a fun time on the weekends. Our home base is a little open mic on Thursdays At Oceanside Brewing Company. Also love the Pourhouse and Aztek brewery. My favorite beach is the Torrey Pines State Park where I pretty much live. Hiking and hitting the waves. Life is just better at the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It goes without saying that all the progress that I have made in my music would never have been possible without people I have met along the journey that have encouraged and believed in me and pushed me to follow my dreams.

These “Angels” , as I like to call them, are numerous and include friends and family, former producers, random strangers who shared a couch or a kind word. It all counts, and I wouldn’t be on the path I am today without them.

More recently this includes my close friend and Producer Wiley Miranda at Wildcat Studios Escondido. And of course my right hand man and band mate Austin Richards.
